Well 4chan or not, considering there is no anonymity really left to be had, i imagine if the image is indeed deemed to be pertinent to the attack GCHQ will have already attempted to establish is origin.

The person probably posted through some proxy(s). If not, he may get a knock at the door. Coffee shop. Still might. Seems like something the authorities will look into.

Probably but VPN/proxy's don't offer the same anonymity to our beloved government as they do to the average user.

They will be all over any and all servers pertaining to the image in question if deemed relevant.

If its tracked to a Coffee shop or the like they will be all over the CCTV.

It's pretty hard to hide from these people given the tools and resources they have at there disposal.

Dude I felt the same as you watching the show last night, was really crazy that the tvshow was reflecting so much about these times.

The last tvshow that gave me that feeling was Xfiles with this last season

From what I have heard this is being investigated as a hard lead, but only for the time stamp, not the facts (the problem is with the stamp and not the image, which has been proven to be an image from a 2009 post).

Very weird how this was posted but then again...popular place in a popular city...but then again what?

Yeah, I agree. The only chance is going through servers in some country that doesn't care to cooperate. But it's pretty slim given what the IC can do.

For all we know the IC has taps/monitoring along the way to narrow it down.

This was the same inference I drew from the information presented. Its a fairly good bet, as this is exactly how they were able to do it without being caught until after the fact.

Question:

Since the translated code points to a url, is there any way to prove said url pointed to those coordinates prior to the attack? Or was the site simply altered after the fact, even though the url predated it? If the former, then this is disturbing for obvious reasons, and I suspect whoever made that post - if they're alive - will receive a knock on their door soon enough. If the latter, or if no one knows because no one checked the url until after the attack, then there's a chance this could just be a convincing hoax.

once again the " warning " was only decoded after the event - so what was the point ?
