So you are a primate.

I was just thinking - Who are the ancestors of the primates? Our great-great-great-...(repeat millions of times)- great grand parents ?

That's right, they are animals that looked not unlike the squirrels !

Evolution of Primates

Evolutionary history of the primates can be traced back 65 million years. One of the oldest known primate-like mammal species, the Plesiadapis, came from North America; another, Archicebus, came from China.

Think about that next time you see a squirrel.

I just like to eat delicious things that can be roasted on sticks over an open fire. Like my ancestors.

Yes they do. But, don't eat Koala or Platypus.

Kind regards,

Quite the opposite perhaps, addictive?

Just don't eat them. It might create a cartel.

Up until very recently, the leading theory on how Primates arrived in the Americas went "from Africa via the ocean on rafts of buoyant pumice that naturally held vegetation and water to sustain them".....

Another theory came out a few years ago that these Plesiadapis were in fact endemic before the America and Africa continental split and that New World Primates were direct descendants.

The guy that proposed the latter was a fairly reputable biologist and I'd pretty much accept any alternative to that unintentional sea faring chimp long shot.

I have a hard time getting on the whole evolution boat especially after south park. Its not that the theory isn't interesting it just has a few holes.

There are no primates in the America's.
If you're talking about new world monkeys then they evolved on a separate isolated path than the ones from Africa, who were the ancestors of the primates we see today, including us (yes we are technically primates).
It's vert strong evidence for the savanna grazer theory where humans were forced to walk up right due to the rapidly changing climate and wandering from the forest to the open planes. In the America's there was no such environment, it's been a dense forest for millions of years.

Nothing to hit you with! The topic is usually something that turns people into "I know everything class aholes". You discuss this topic with hard religious fanatics and zealots of scientific theory. However questions are put forth by both sides where both sides don't have the answers and reach conclusions with the aid of believe me type thinking!
I'm smiply stating my neutrality on the subject.

Feel free to fill in the holes through observation and the use of critical thinking.

Yes you're right...primates should read monkeys.
Sea faring chimps is misleading as well but you get the point.
