You know, as someone who has been downloading music online since first getting a broadband connection, and even downloading in smaller quantities on a 28.8 modem, i really don't feel bad about doing it.
Spare me the song and dance about the starving recording artists who I'm ripping off. The execs keep the vast majority of the money. I live in manhattan so i meet a lot of people in the music industry, and you'd be surprised at how many of these recording artists don't make as much as you think.
So who am I hurting? The very same fat millionaire who decides that I should pay $18 for a 40 minute long cd filled mostly with crap and one or two good songs. Pardon me for not having any pity.

As for the RIAA targeting average users. Go for it. What will end up happening is the demise of the entire industry. I can tell you if these morons send some 20 year old kid to jail, all that's gonna do is unleash a flood of anger, lower their sales, and most likely get them attacked electronically. It's been proven to Microsoft, to AOL, and to lots of others: pay all the money you want to security staff, a 14 year old kid can and will undo everything you think you can do.

Whatever actions they think they're gonna take to keep people from downloading music, it's a lost cause. They will not win. Not the slightest chance.

oh crap

blah blah blah

Sing whatever bullsh!t song you want to try and justify why you steal music... in the end, you knew it was wrong, and kept doing it. Now this is the result... chaos that will cause problems for everyone.

You have only yourselves to blame and shouldn't be surprised for this latest turn of events. Did you really think the music industry fat cats would just sit on their hump and let this continue?

sheesh

The biggest Problem the RIAA is facing is proving how much they have lost through P2P....Becasue they can't. Posted by Twisted Vertex

I will agree with this 100%, and will go one better, that they have lost very little to nothing due to P2P.... Keep in mind, the economy is in the crapper, and luxury items (including CDs) get cut from peoples budgets. Times suck, so live with it, unless you are the RIAA, and you go looking for a scapegoat to sue.

However, I believe in those whole topic, we are ignoring the people who completely abuse this network Posted by Twisted Vertex

I would also agree there are those who abuse the system.... However, does that justify screwing up peoples lives? Does it justify trashing the constitutional rights of Americans???

And, what happens when they DO manage to shut down P2P... and the labels STILL go out of business due to thier massive mismanagement techniques, and the fact that they totally piss off thier customers who decide to do something better with thier entertainment dollar than to spend it on a company that wants to put them in jail for looking for a better deal!

Again, THIS IS TIME FOR A FULL BLOWN BOYCOTT!!!!!
