In 2002:
"As we gather tonight, our nation is at war, our economy is in recession, and the civilized world faces unprecedented dangers. Yet the state of our Union has never been stronger.
We last met in an hour of shock and suffering. In four short months, our nation has comforted the victims, begun to rebuild New York and the Pentagon, rallied a great coalition, captured, arrested, and rid the world of thousands of terrorists, destroyed Afghanistan's terrorist training camps, saved a people from starvation, and freed a country from brutal oppression.
The American flag flies again over our embassy in Kabul. Terrorists who once occupied Afghanistan now occupy cells at Guantanamo Bay. (Applause.) And terrorist leaders who urged followers to sacrifice their lives are running for their own. "
.....................blah.,...........................
....................blah.............................

" But some governments will be timid in the face of terror. And make no mistake about it: If they do not act, America will." -------------------------Referring to whom? France, Germany, etcetera?

" Our second goal is to prevent regimes that sponsor terror from threatening America or our friends and allies with weapons of mass destruction. Some of these regimes have been pretty quiet since September the 11th. But we know their true nature. North Korea is a regime arming with missiles and weapons of mass destruction, while starving its citizens."
---------------When Should we wage war with them, Mr. President?

"Iran aggressively pursues these weapons and exports terror, while an unelected few repress the Iranian people's hope for freedom."
--------War with them too?

" Iraq continues to flaunt its hostility toward America and to support terror. The Iraqi regime has plotted to develop anthrax, and nerve gas, and nuclear weapons for over a decade. This is a regime that has already used poison gas to murder thousands of its own citizens -- leaving the bodies of mothers huddled over their dead children. This is a regime that agreed to international inspections -- then kicked out the inspectors. This is a regime that has something to hide from the civilized world."

Done that, now what?

Am I the only one that is willing to predict what will be in his next of state of union address? Here it goes, "We will wage war for one thousand years against the tyranny of leaders like Vladimir Putin, Nepalise, and the most remote of tyrannies, EASTER ISLAND! Let's get to war. Are you ready for some war?", with monday night football music playing in the background.

Easy

1 Iran for nukes that dont exist

2 N Korea for looking differnt

3 China for talking differnt

4 Canada for being so cheerful

5 Russia for a declined quality of vodka (we all know you must have a bottle in the desk there Mr Bush , dont lie0

6 The USA for being so opinionated and almost causing him reelection to a man who was dumber than he is.

From the gist of the few articles I've clipped from newspapers hes going to be big on hyping the war since he neglected to mention it at all in his Inaguration speil. As to whom hes going to go after I think its a pretty even race between Iran and North Korea for the number one spot on Bush's hit list. Or maybe he will suprise everyone and get human on us by talking about how hes going to try to fix his limping No Child Left Behind program thats actually causing more harm to schools that it is good, but somehow I doubt that will be his direction in the address.

Division...You bet your booties now that Iraq is "triumphant" we will move on to the next country...At the cost of thousands (or millions) more lives, who cares, Democracy will be shoved down their throats and no cost is too great for Mr. Bush. Maybe he can have a statue(which he will fund himself) of himself in each country, hell, tell the people who the boss is. Talk about world domination...I wonder which country is going to say "enough" and end this quest for Bushs world domination?...That will happen soon...

We live in perilous times, dont we.

Notice how the "right" wont touch this subject? I guess this is pretty hard to deny, huh?

Oh,well, France comes to mind, as that's where Hitler struck after Poland and Norway, and the Bushes are all nazis, so that's what they'd do, right? After Karl Rove tells them to?
And speaking of the "right" what's more right-wing than blaming the jews for all your misfortunes, promoting absurd nationalist /socialist idiologies, denying women anything close to rights beyond being property, dispensing "justice" through the might of armed thugs at the whim of some fascist mullah or "beloved leader"and opposing or disparaging the act of voting in an election?
What is more racist than to think that freedom is not a universal right?
Dr. Dean blew it for amerikan lefties by declaring that he hated Republicans and everything they stood for over the weekend while in range of a microphone, an accurate summation of the "feelings" of many of the democrats. Hatred is not compatable with the ATS motto of denying ignorance. Hatred is what historically has driven fascism.
From reading some of the threads on ATS lately, it seems he's not alone. What a comfort to Kim, Bashir, and the ayatollahs that thier friends are there for them!

Thats blowing it way out of proportion. Nobody has a visceral hate of President Bush.

Maybe because we're not stupid enough to comment on a speech that has yet to be made.

Well your friends in the media that are on the "right" are commenting on a speech that has yet to be made. So, is the "right" stupid for commenting on it also?
Also, I believe this is a personal attack which violates ATS rules & procedure.

I normally dont follow government things that closely due to having an aversion to 100% BS stuff, but his address will definately get recorded to my VCR right overtop of the first Debate(see also: joke). Whatever he does say it should be interesting and will no doubt fuel lots of heated arguments across the land that is ATS.
