A US news network has raked through Donald Trump's 2005 tax return, but had the wind taken out of its sails just before airtime with an effective counterpunch from the White House.

The details of the "1040" form showed that Trump paid $38m in tax that year and made more than $150m, but did nothing to buttress host Rachel Maddow's claims of close links between the now-president and various shadowy foreign interests, including a Russian oligarch who bought a house Trump once owned at a notably higher price.

Sorry you misunderstood. You didn't hurt anyone's feelings that I'm aware of in this thread. It is more like a stinky little fart in an otherwise well perfumed room filled with people. They can usually tell where it originated and eventually have to ask that person to cease and desist. I wouldn't suggest wearing that as some badge of interest in your words as much as simply wishing for the smell to dissipate.

1. His tax returns are probably filed with his accountant. He doesn't need to disclose them if he doesn't want to...legally. Please let us all know what specific information (not fishing) you want from that return. What is your proof that this document contains that information? You know...you don't get to investigate a person's home, etc. without viable information. In short...it is none of your business.

That is his right. He does not have to release them, but we cannot claim he is the most transparent when he will not do what all modern presidents have done.
