The never ending audit comes to mind.
Way back in the day when I was just starting my decorating business my "real" job that paid the bills was working in the accounting department of a
freight forwarder in Kennedy airport. They had offices in several countries around the world and every major airport in the USA.
Lots of different currencies(prior to the EU) lots of paperwork because it was pre computers on everyone's desk too.
Our annual audit which I had to actively participate in by supplying the requested invoices and payments data took three months.
They're not auditing his entire history. It's fifty two weeks worth of business no matter where the decimal point on the figures is. 52 weeks only.
The company I worked for was multi national subject to lots of different laws and pretty complicated. And it took three months.
