Kids standing up in a lecture hall and talking loudly is a riot shutting down "free speech."

The students were poorly behaved indeed. There is a time and a place and this was unnecessarily disruptive. I'm fairly sure they violated the honor code or whatever they have at Middlebury.

On the other hand ...

What did they break?

Whom did they threaten with violence?

What did they burn?

What cars did they smash?

...

To call this a riot is absurd.

The ludicrous hyperbole by some folks is beyond anything I've ever seen.

so the guy has his right to free speech, no one physically stopped him from speaking, other people have the right to free speech, and exercised it. the speaker could speak, but didnt.

no one took away free speech, no one silenced the speaker. he could talk. no one prohibited the speaker from speaking.

if im talking and people are talking over me i cant take that to court and say they took away my freedom of speech... they'd think im some sort of mentalist using hyperbole to reinforce a moot point of ego shattered....

I support free speech... even if I disagree with the message, that is what supporting free speech means.

I would think some of you would know this ... Hitler's socialism was a way to ease the German Workers Party into the Nazi Party .

Hitler and Goebbels were quite clear that their "socialism" was directed toward the Volk ... or The People.

In other words, it was more like "Nationalistic Nationalism."
