Sessions is going to speak over the Russian fiasco.

I'd put my opinion, but it hasn't started yet so I can't really comment outside of my biases here.

I don't really have any biases since I don't know this guy at all, nor hardly what the fuss is about...

What I can tell you, is that this is shaping up to be the new "emails" situation. The atmosphere feels so familiar... The supposed evidence, the denial, the speculation, the lack of anything definite yet grand accusations of something like treason.

People on all sides are on witch hunts to try to make a blow to the other side. That's all I see here, but I guess the contents of the speech may or may not clarify anything.

Again, all I can say is that this feels like the emails again. A long road that leads to no where, but political opponents will beat it to death.

Do you have a prediction?

I guess my prediction is that it'll be a bunch of BS and we won't learn much new, but at least it won't come with new controversies like if we listened to Trump talk.

I probably wouldn't think he was guilty without out that grin on his face.

welp if he recused himself then he is a leg up over Lynch no matter, based off of what we actually know at this point.

All we really know is that people talked to Russians and that even though this has happened and been leaked every report always has "no evidence of actual wrongdoing buried in paragraph 5" where most partisans never get to it.

Yes. That is why I'm happy.

I'm relatively convinced that he did not do what he is accused of doing, but his recusal of dealing with matters concerning the Trump campaign really helps me believe that, especially since it goes against what Trump thought that he should do.

Of course, there's always the chance that he has influence on those taking part in such matters, but at least he's stepping up in a way that is appropriate.

I'm unsure of why you subscribe to the claim that this is a "fiasco" nor what your bias against him may be (and what you use to substantiate the bias). I mean, the guy hasn't even had a chance to do his job yet...

A lot of "I don't recall..." comments, though, and that always bothers me, although doesn't necessarily indicate intent to deceive.

Regardless, dude reminds me of a nice grandpa that always has sassafras candy ready when you visit.

Krazy is likely upset over marijuana. Sessions will enforce federal law, including cannabis laws.

If they want marijuana legal, they need it to be rolled back in congress so that it can go back to the states.

It certainly goes a long way towards clearing his name. I'll give him that. Instead of hunkering down and fighting this, he made the right call. Maybe you are right and this development is benign. We'll see.

As for my bias. I don't like the guy because of his stance on marijuana.

I get that, but recusal take the bat away from the democrats... now if they continue to rant and rave over his meeting they can smile and ask for proof of wrongdoing...

I have no doubt they will still appoint someone that will come to the "correct" conclusion no matter what the truth is.

If you asked what I ate for breakfast yesterday morning, I would say I do not recall.

If you asked me if I could definitely say I did not eat a product produced by a specific company... I'd say I do not recall.

I think it's just the best way to cover himself. Perhaps someone will find that he did meet with that ambassador a few months before or something, but his speech makes it seem like ambassador meetings are extremely common... So it's not like he's bound to remember extremely vague details about unimportant meetings.

In the era of Scooter Libby, "I don't recall ..." is safer than being caught making the tiniest incongruent mistake in testimony and getting caught for perjury. Scooter Libby get prosecuted for a tiny discrepancy in his testimony that wasn't even directly Plame related, so he went to the big house.

They'd love to have that happen to Sessions too, so the less he can be caught saying on the record to have to memorize for possible under oath testimony later on, the better for him.

That's pretty much the point.

They're hoping to get an Obama career appointee to be appointed to the investigation from Justice. Sessions hasn't been there long enough to clean house.

You know how much they'll be fair and impartial in the process.
