A New Life

Martin walked slowly down the forest’s path, the trail winding endlessly before her. Slowly she picked her steps, carefully placing her feet one in front of the other. She was tired. So very tired. It seemed as if the entire world’s weight was pressed upon her shoulders and she wasn’t sure that she would be able to take another step. Without even realizing that it had happened Martin slowly slid to the forest floor. She placed her head upon her arm and slowly drifted off.

Martin became aware of a soft sensation on her cheek. It was just the hint of a breeze glancing off her face and then returning. She tied to clear her mind and figure out where she was. The last thing she remembered was the trail in the forest and being so tired. As she slowly cracks her eyes open she is assaulted with wild burst of color. Color more vibrant than she has ever seen. In awe of her surroundings she slowly sits up and opened her eyes.

As Martin tries to get her bearings a beautiful butterfly flies past and brushes her cheek. That was what she was feeling, butterfly kisses! “Good Morning beautiful winged one!” but instead no words reached her lips. Instead there was a joyous sound of music. “What in the world!” Martin again tried to exclaim but was again greeted by the sound of music.

Martin glanced around starting to feel alarmed. To her left was a sparkling fresh lake. She slowly made her way over to the lake and glanced down at her reflection

And she flew away singing to live her new chance in life!
The End

Marty-girl? How do you not have 'writer' status yet???
I thought that was fabulous!!

I loved the visuals...*slaps forehead for not thinking of that*....and the ending was an unexpected smile.

I also loved that you used yourself (Martin) as your character, lol...yeah, cuz that's what I do too.

Good story!!
Free as bird.
Not sure if I should sing Beatles or Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Either way it was a good story.

I wish I could take the credit for such fantastic ideas and writing but, this is all you girl! It was fun and the death made me happy...oddly perhaps.

And she flew away singing to live her new chance in life!

Loved this!

((hugs))
