Click-bait title isn't mine but I felt like this article pretty well summarizes why most veterans can't stand the VA and feel as strongly about it as we do: a poster of Gen. Jim Mattis over the quote "make killing great again" was put up on a door in a VA office near/outside Atlanta and the little workerbees are having a collective seizure over it.

During her interview, the "victim" of this horrible act manages to tick off both the race box and religion box in the span of one sentence, and then goes on to talk about how the person that did it (who is as yet unidentified) needs to be checked for mental health issues, and how terrified she is to come to work now because this particular employee "puts their lives at risk" now.

Yet people will question why veterans are so fed up with it and fed up with the treatment, despite having to deal with somebody who's left so utterly and completely devastated by a damn poster.

The horror, the horror

Lock him up, lock him up. At least get the guy some help. If it was intended to be a joke, maybe the guy needs to see a shrink. If it was a real threat, then the guy needs to see a shrink and lose his job.

It is criminal, the guy needs to go to jail, and needs psychiatric evaluation. If I were the owner/manager of the business that guy would be fired so fast it is not even funny. Good luck to this guy and his future unemployment endeavors.

Lol I love when the default response to every perceived slight and hurt-feelings situation becomes "put them in jail!!!112121!!!!!"

You love throwing people in jail...?

Anyway,

Local United States Department of Veterans Affairs staffers were left horrified after a coworker put up a "Make Killing Great Again" poster on his office door.

Sounds sarcastic to me. Like, If I maaay...

Somewhere I heard that 75% of soldiers stationed overseas have no idea who they are fighting or why.

(letting that sink in)

Veterans of all people know the killing isn't warranted. The war on terror is contrived, the killing isn't finished in places like Iraq, where we are embroiled in another (round) for the third or fourth time? The uS propaganda machine went from Desert Storm on live TV to 'shhh, theres no boots in the front lines...'

Humpty Dumpty is fallen from his perch and nothing we can do will patch him up again.

The wars (killing) are never going to be great (appreciated) again. The vets know this, they are tired of fighting the wars, the VA and themselves.

Maybe the guy remains a warmonger and someone hung that sign on his door as a sarcastic reminder.

Look. I don't know what it is we are doing in the Middle East, but it isn't war. You aren't waging war when you are worried about whether or not your opponents will hate you for it.

And if we aren't going to wage war and aren't willing to wage war, then we shouldn't be over there pretending to. It just gets people killed for no reason.

I'm sticking in a news report on the subject, on your linked page the video won't work, plus the CPU went bananas.
Anyway,

Wow a poster.....

More to the story me thinks. No one should be made to feel afraid in the workplace at any time.

That being said the poster isn't all that frightening, and when you think about what the US has always been doing which is kill people. I mean you either kill them or lock them up into a corporately owned Prison system.
Then your soldiers are sent to other countries to kill people for resource control. Or things as insignificant as geopolitical chess moves. Imagine you are a soldier and you are told to kill the children of a foreign Country, and maybe you have a Son or Daughter at home. That is gonna cause some mental health battles that the rest of us hope to never realize.
Then you return home to find that there is no longer the Freedom that you have sacrificed yourself and the lives of your Brothers for. As a matter of fact you are now viewed as a burden to the system. You have no support because there is no cure for what you have. The battle that is painted on you in scars both physical and mental, that victory will never be realized. It was stolen from you. You watched a puppet show played in front of a tattered flag that no longer represents Freedom.

The rest of the population doesn't want to admit what its society has become. They are all fighting the realization that they are a member of a fascist System no longer in the defense of Democracy. They stand with the tattered flag even tho they know full well the hollowness of it's sentiment.

That sentiment can change and must change. It is up to each and every one of you to decide what end you march towards. Live that version of you and stop the hate, stop the divisiveness. Be the Freedom that you so desperately cling to.

It doesn't seem so far away from it now. Inexorably forward to that bitter end we march.

"When the peoples fear of death is no longer greater than their hate for the government. Revolution is imminent and unavoidable."

Sorry I digress, There is just so much all over the media whether it be mainstream or alternative. Just my Thoughts on it all.

Oh cry me a river.
"He put up a poster. And so I am now convinced he is a potential mass murderer."
This lady needs a psychiatric evaluation.

The people in this forum are also acting inappropriately brain dead. Please explain the line of thought to me:

Guy puts up poster.
Someone finds it offensive.
Someone asks him to take it down.
He does.
He should now be fired for some reason.

Don't forget, once he's on unemployment (and if he's on it long enough, welfare), you'll be paying for him. Everything he does, your tax dollars will support. The cost of being a close-minded snowflake.

America has become full of pussies who can't go 5 minutes with having to find something to be offended by or be the victim of.

It's because of people like this lady why the VA is such a mess. And so many of the posters in this thread have absolutely no idea what they're talking about and are just making themselves look like fools.

No America is a mess because it's full of ignorant asshats who don't care about anything but being barbarians.

This is the 21st century, not the middle ages.

Damnit just spit coffee all over laughing at the reactions to the poster .

Theyd all die of shock over the dark humour out in the field by troops . The poster is tame in comparison .

While i wouldn't freak out like the lady in the article, I do find it disturbing, at least inappropriate especially at the VA. I am not sure I even understand the point of the poster. As a soldier I never found the prospect of having to pull the trigger and kill someone even remotely great, and considering the VA's track record at having Veterans die while waiting for care, I would wonder if that was the VA's new slogan.

Certainly not an offense worthy of jail, I do find that some sort of reprimand was in order. Somehow I don't even think General Mattis would find it amusing. I have run into a few soldiers over the years that were a little too ready to pull the trigger but they were never in a position to do so and never would have been, those are always the ones gung ho, but did come across many who did and struggled with the memories of being in that position, so no, not a place for it there in the VA or any workplace

And field humor is just that field humor but not in a hospital setting where people are being treated because of what they had to do while in the field...but yes it is different out in the field

Just pointing out that I think when we went in we should have gone in and made war. War is hell. If we weren't going to do that, then we had no business going in the first place.

I'm not sure how you make war great. It's never great. It's hell.

And I'm not sure what kind of stupid point this poster was even trying to make.

The thread isn't about the legality or morality of war.

It's about people demanding somebody be locked up over a poster.

But hey, do let us know more about how rough war is.
