A gang member was let free instead of informing ICE to deport him as was ordered by an immigration judge in 2015. Peeing match is starting.

An illegal immigrant gang member from El Salvador was allowed to walk free from Rikers Island under Mayor Bill de Blasio’s “Sanctuary City” law — in defiance of a federal petition to hold him for deportation, officials said Tuesday.

Tomas Decker US immigration and customs enforcement unit in New York Said the this is not about politics it's about keeping citizens safe. OK, releasing a gang member slated to be deported is keeping people safe? How?

“This man is by his own admission a member of a violent street gang and he was released back into the community,” said Thomas Decker, field office director for the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement unit in New York. “Honoring a detainer request is not about politics, it is about keeping New York citizens safe.”

Estivan Rafael........admitted he is a MS-13 gang member-he was released from prison to walk the streets again even after being ordered to be turned over to ICE by a immigration judge in 2015.

Estivan Rafael Marques Velasquez, an admitted member of the notorious MS-13 gang, was released from Rikers Island on Feb. 16 after serving time for disorderly conduct.

ICE officials had requested last May that Velasquez — who was ordered removed by an immigration judge in November 2015 — be turned over to them when he was done serving his sentence, but no one at ICE was alerted to his release.

This is New York City, a devoted socialist runs the show. He's not illegal, he's undocumented. Not in a gang, but more of a boys club, just misunderstood.

True, maybe an apology from the author of this story. It was awful harsh saying those bad words.

No, the story says they let him out to protect the New York citizens. You of course are right.

I think organizations that have direct involvement in drug trafficking, murder, crime, and blatant racism should be illegal. Not only should illegals who are involved in gang activity be rounded up, but so should American's who engage in something that is known to influence many young people toward a life of crime.

I know our constitution protects the right to assemble, but gangs in no way assemble to benefit society or help those in need.

Blatant racism can be a freedom of speech issue.

Blatant racism can be a freedom of speech issue.

True, but when it's accompanied by an organization that has a record of hate crimes and numerous incidents with the police, in my opinion they've lost their right to organize.

When this guy commits another crime, New Yorkers will have no one to blame but themselves. I have no sympathy for liberal citizens who are victims of illegals, they made their bed, they should lie in it.

That is something you and I cannot agree on.

Freedom of speech is lost for all when it is lost for some.
