Glad to be back after a month of polishing cars, painting fences and catching flies in mid air with a pair of chopsticks under the tutelage of one of our fellow members.

For those who are waxing nostalgic about the good old days, here's the current take on Archie Comics ala Beverly Hills 90210 or Dawson's Creek but interesting none the less on the account of the dark flavor and surprising character developments, plots and sub-plots.

Here's the link to the imdb list of cast & crew here.

It's already on it's 4th episode, lot's of surprises and I wouldn't spoil them for those who would like to watch the series. So far no Ethel and Sabrina sightings, if I'm not mistaken... and of course what is Archie without Josie and The Pussycats?

Enjoy.

Reminds me of my childhood when I watched Archie's weird mysteries

This is just a hunch, by the time Sabrina is introduced in the series (if they are planning to) maybe it will take a bit of the paranormal route, more like Charmed. Going the Weird Mysteries route will be more like Scooby Dooish.

Can't wait for Jughead to be a conspiracy theorist.

I think what we are seeing is a book, or novel written by none other than Forsythe P. Jones. There are comics of him writing fantasy stories involving his friends and other people of Riverdale. In the first episodes, we hear him constantly calling the shots of what will happen. Well, at least a couple of times.

And, Betty ... I was in love with her when drawn by the DeCarlo. I'm even more in love now... haha

Thanks for bringing Bob Montana and Dan DeCarlo

I think Miss Grundy, the music teacher is way hotter in the series. Wait till the 4th episode with her wearing Lolita sunglasses.

lol My daughter and I were actually shocked at the miss Grundy angle... I mean, between Betty, Veronica, Cheryl and the occasional others... What's next? Miss Beazly and Reggie?

I still have hundreds of Archie comics, ranging mostly between the ones from the 50's thru the 80's. It still reads as fresh as the first time I read them, and still marvel at the beauty of some of the art.
I love the energy they showed in the 50's, and the surprising maturity of the ones from the 70's. I was surprised when reading some of them once an adult... haha.

show tries to channel Twin Peaks and Buffy, but totally joyless, humorless and dark, all sex and political correctness. some people like that sort of thing.

Please God don't let these people do Scooby Doo or Johnny Quest.

I'm more disappointed that they didn't kept Archie's freckles than the sexual content which I guess is in the context of PG 13 rating and the pc stuff the writers worked into the series. You have a point regarding the dark take, I guess a Sienfeld-like take on Archie can also work.

Chances are they wouldn't make a Scoobie Doo tv series, God already let them make 2 movies out of it, which is okay. My two young daughters liked them. Johnny Quest? That I would also like to see even from the same pool of Riverdale writers.

Riverdale isn't half bad.

Politically correct in every way.

Wonder how long it will run.

You can count on it.

After Watching Teen Wolf, that mainstreamed gay child soft porn.

Hell there's a new lawyer show that has a Transgender was a leading/supporting role called Doubt.

Good stories don't need sex and political correctness.

I was thinking the same, episode 5 is a bit of a let down for me. Molly Ringwald will appear on the 10th episode and I caught a glimpse of Greg Berlanti on the credits as an executive producer, I'm a fan of Everwood, he's a bit of a goodie-two-shoes writer specially in Political Animals but he's a good storyteller, as an executive producer... we'll see.

I'm also a fan of Drop Dead Diva but I think I'll pass on Doubt.

That was quick, only after 2 episodes... speaking of 2 episodes, SS GB is interesting. I'm on a couch potato mode these past few days.

Same here.

I saw SS-GB, and not interested in it.

I liked the first season of Billions.

Hard to tell who the good guy is and the bad guy is.

Ballers is decent.

Beyond isn't half bad.

The Blacklist has a spin off. The Blacklist Redemption.

The Magicians from Syfy was a surprise after the years of trash they've made.

I am all over the place these days when it comes to genre.
