It said click on initial ATS message and message will disappear, it didn't do so, so I clicked "edit" and wrote there
Hope this is OK. I always seem to get in trouble when I post anew Topic, so I don't post many.

Several homes have already been destroyed...
I seen several odd pictures that showed intense fires contained to a rather small area close to some homes...
Perhaps that was early on and an original house fire was the cause I did not see any info as to the suspected cause...
The worst piece of news on the fires is that a helcopter pilot fighting the fires crashed and lost his life...

Los Angeles south?
Earthquakes and fires and floods, oh my.

No intent to lessen the impact on residents.

Hey Daniel here a chef from Christchurch. A lot of my family has been evacuated. Fires are jumping hills because of high winds. Planes and helicopters have stopped for the night. Fingers crossed for no aftershocks. Ha?

Thanks for posting this. I hope the residents are OK. You are right, they don't need this on top of recent quakes. It says the fire is blowing across Dyer's Pass. That fire must be big, there are a lot of trees up there. Dyer's Pass was my bolt-hole after a hard weeks work.

Stay safe Daniel.

Thanks. Love those hills. My relatives live on Dyers Pass Road, the highest house. They have been evacuated. Victoria park is probably 5 to 10 mins away from there? Such a beautiful area. Can see why it's burning though. It's all big ol pine trees and native bush etc.. Sugar loaf our main FM broadcast transmitter is up there too. I can still see it all lit up from down on the flat though. Hills still glowing but smoke seems to have died down as the wind has.

I think the first photo I took (from 2008) is part of Victoria Park. I used to walk from Summit Road up to the top, passing the houses you mention, and down to Cashmere. From what I remember that route was very popular with cyclists. I feel for you mate. It a real shame.
