If I had been an impoverished black man in LA in the 60s, facing overt and murderous police oppression directly sanctioned by the FBI, lack of opportunities, the deaths of peaceful activists and the very real possibility of being drafted into a war for no reason while being treated like crap at home I'd probably join a pro second amendment group that wanted to rid the community of drugs and prostitution too regardless of their maoist leanings.

They have pretty much no similarities to the abomination that is the new black panther party.
