How is it possible that we live within an extremely sophisticated simulation?

It seems like a crazy idea. If I drive into a wall at a 100 miles per hour, my blood will be everywhere, and I will be dead.
But sub atomic particles are only particles when we are observing them, which is suggestive of this place as a simulation.

Some quantum scientists actually believe we exist in a simulation. They are just not guessing. The math tells them this.
How we are ever to unfold the truth behind this mystery may never happen.

Was God the author of this simulation, or was it highly advanced aliens enjoying the show.

Do we live in a sophisticated simulation, and if we do, who created it?

The one thing that always pissed me off about this scenario is that our universe could be a Grand theft auto game played by a 13 year old.

Consciousness as in "I think, therefore I am," has always ruined the simulation theory for me.

More like Command and Conquer, or the Civilization series, played by a 13 million year old. Still not a great feeling lol.

Could it be possible that our consciousness is placed into the simulation? Just guessing.

It is possible that this is an advanced simulation. The one orchestrating it would be god and the authors of the script would be the angels.

No big deal, if we do something stupid and get hurt it hurts. if we die, it could be the end of our part in this simulation. No matter what, it is real to us.

I believe we are souls having a human experience inside a 'dream' or simulation. We grow spiritually through the challenges we face and learn from the world around us and each other. I believe 'God' is the prime mover or architect.

I don't require a specific definition of God, however, I don't believe in an old man in the sky type of God. Whatever IT is IT is likely far beyond our comprehension at this level of consciousness.

Evidence of God is everywhere.

Our world is certainly not a simulation.

That is exactly what someone in a simulation would say.

Any real evidence it is not a simulation? Not being a jerk, I am on the fence here. Like most reasonable people.

This much I have to agree with. The question then is who or what is God, and where did God come from? Is anything truly infinite?

Um. You may be in a simulation, but I am not.

I don't see any indication at a quantum level that we are in a simulation. In fact, to be honest, I struggle to understand the intricacies of quantum mechanics (and all that).

The fantasy Sc-Fi film The Matrix and similar, have a lot to answer for.

When speaking at this level your own words are hard to swallow. Everything is theory at this level, and in this lifetime it is impossible to definitively prove anything. Every theory leaves unanswered questions, that is why they are theories. The simulation theory is not at all unreasonable. A simulation inside a simulation inside a simulation etc is not too unreasonable at this point. If any of this is wrong, please offer proof that steers us in the right direction.

The world is a simulation within your own mind..
Your brain builds the world around you into what YOU experience.. your reality of the world.
But we are still part of the whole, in the same way a drop of water is part of the ocean.

This just in: Osama Bin Laden not directly responsible for 9/11 terrorist attacks; sources say a 13-year-old boy playing with our simulation somehow managed to gain access to restricted parts of the game's source code.

This also just in: quantum physicists are now informing us that this 13-year-old boy is actually what we've been referring to as 'God' this whole time.

On a (slightly) more serious note, if this is indeed a simulation, there sure are a lot of bugs and glitches for something so 'sophisticated'. STDs, hemorrhoids, spiders... so many grievances to list that I wouldn't even know where to begin.

One also has to wonder, assuming this theory is correct, do people with mental disorders such as schizophrenia just receive unnecessary interference?

It's not a simulation. It's not like the world was once "real" and is now being simulated.

I do think our reality is being rendered from someplace else.

It is not possible.
A 'simulation' must be 'simulating' something.
A 'simulated diamond' simulates a Real diamond.
Reality is One, it does not simulate some Real Reality elsewhere, that is schizophrenic thought.
Schizophrenia is the fragmentation of that which is One!
We might be a hologram, or 'make-believe', but Reality is no simulant!
Not anything exists beyond the One Reality/Universe to 'simulate'
Reality is ALL inclusive!
But as there is One Universal Consciousness/Mind, the very Real possibility exists that this is all a 'figment' within this Mind, 'make-believe' (which is why 'believers' are crazy!), which is what quantum seems to be finding, also...
All existence is a momentary flash of Universal Self Knowledge! Here! Now! *__-

Do we live in a sophisticated simulation, and if we do, who created it?

See, there's the bogey in the walls! If you accept the 'false' premise, you are led to the false hypothesis/theory!
I see no problem, here, just because a 'Creator God' is logically, scientifically impossible, doesn't mean that 'God' is impossible.
We get so used to being fed information, and some is bone deep.
'Creator' is one.
But if Reality is truly timeless, and that seems to be the case, then all 'before' and 'after' is just an 'illusion', a mirage...
And 'creation' is a theory to satisfy a mirage...

Ponder; every moment of Universal existence 'exists' for the absolute 'duration' of the Universe!!

What is 'life and death' now?
'Make-believe'! *__-

There is no point in thinking about this. You still have to live your life.

Good one. Hitting our hand with a hammer feels pretty real too.

This guy gets it. Most of you here are delusional and lost.
