The great wall of china was built over some of the biggest mountains in the world and it was built long before they had modern equipment.

The great wall of china was manned full time by guards that patrolled the Parapets. See images of the wall. See the walkway on top?

Thats not affordable nowadays. Border guards, stations, trucks, helicopters and drones, let alone cameras and geo sensors are way more expensive than in Chinas past. Add in maintenance and repair and detention processing and deportation of people that make it across anyway...

maybe you could make a new thread on that topic this thread is about a wall and you haven`t made one logical point on this topic.

pffft, shot down all your 'logic'...

and what does that have to do with how and where it was built? it has nothing to do with it.
I used that as an example to prove that you were wrong when you said there is terrain in the U.S. that the wall can`t be built over.

The leftist slogan in different terms:

We don't need no, education, we just need our thought control...
All in all we're gonna, say no to the wall...

kinda fitting..

Haha

So semantics is your argument?

We do not know for certain if tariffs will pay for it but because the mexican president says no the entire thing is a broken promise?

Seems like at best its partially broken since he still seems intent on a wall...

Build military bases/camps on the border. There already exist a 100 mile constitution free zone precedent, ACLU whines about it all the time.
Talk about great training, for spotting and desert conditions.

The problem is politics, not personnel or equipment
Plenty of bases full of personnel across the country.

The US has Humvee – ≈260,000

If I take 10% of those humvees I can get 1 humvee per 1/10 a mile of the border.

Realistically I need only 6000 humvees, 4000 active with coverage every 1/2 mile plus 2000 in reserve.
at 3 people per humvee active humvee per shift. 3x8 hour shifts 36000 personnel (((4000x3x3)))
And then a support staff equal to 36000
about 72000 personnel needed for a coverage of a humvee every 1/2 mile.
add in 2000 drone operators for good measure
74000 people.

Of course, he has to. People will forget though. Most attention spans are about eight seconds long.

They'll add some bits here and there, take pretty pictures, declare the project finished, and all the kings horses and all the kings men will build a higherwall around the whitehouse then.

it`s only been 3 weeks nobody except fools expected the wall to be built in 3 weeks, nobody except a fool expected mexico to hand over the full cost of the wall in 3 weeks.

if America was a failing empire then we wouldn`t need a wall because nobody would be trying to come here illegally.

Plenty of undocumented workers here already. Where do they come from? How come the gubment doesn't punish the corporations for using them in droves? Because they are in cahoots.

Maybe we can make the undocumented immigrants build the wall. That could save money.

His spanish background makes no controversy. Spain is in Europe.

Here is what I think: Trump is a business man with a PhD is hype. I think the news is part of his hype. He uses news orgs to get a message out. Even if they do it unwittingly. The one thing he's learned: make for good soundbites and the microphone will always be in your face.

So with that said, i'd say that about half the news on Trump is stuff he controls directly. The rest is the feeding frenzy that follows. His intent is to create an outcome by having something in the headlines be about him. This guy, his friend, just did him a solid by helping put some more controversy in print. People are still talking, and Trump owns the news cycle.

The only way for the Media to win their war wit Trump is to just flat out ignore him. If they don't, ill assume the media is in collusion with Trump as his controlled opposition. Even if they aren't allied with him...it can't be hard to control lunatics foaming at the mouth.

They're mostly farm workers, can't speak english, don't know from construction. Besides if you train them, then they'll know how to defeat it.

only a fool would think that since a wall won`t keep everyone out that we shouldn`t even try to keep anyone out by building a wall.

Only a fool would think that a wall such as this will ever end well (even if it does get built)!
Never has (or will) such a devolutionary hateful display been fruitful!

I said the problem was politics, not personnel or equipment, This was to refute your claim it is not affordable.

I brought up the military to show where personnel does exist currently along with some equipment.
I then did a hypothetical of how much equipment and personnel would be needed.

I am sorry you did not understand that, lol.
