Made me think of Beruit and the Bekah, Lebanon

One of the most beautiful places on earth, and lovely people, too. There was a time when the cafe/nightlife scene in Beruit excelled that of Paris or Vienna.

And we let the Syrians just march in and take it. . .

Sux when everyone you knew in a city like that is either refugeed in America, "disappeared," or dead.

The real Crime of George Bush sr. was not renegging on his no new taxes pledge; it was in doing nothing while General Aoun held the presidential palace and pledged to resurrect a Multipolar Muslim/Druze/Christian Democracy. He actually held off the Syrian army for a few weeks, and even had muslim & Christian militias on his side.

We had a chance to stop Syria, and restore democracy to a nation who had been a model in the M.E. But Bush's advisors told him it was "not our fight."

And there's still about 20,000 Syrian troops there. Plus secret police death squads and Iranian "insurgents" wiping out Christian, Druze, and Moderate islamic enclaves.

a very beautiful city indeed. i want to travel soooo badly. too bad school and life in general is getting in the way, as usual. I will make those countries and cities destinations when i take trips in the future. Iraq was a great looking city as well, hopefully it is restored to the city it once was.

here are some sites with pictures of Toronto, Canada. There is also some pictures of other areas in the first site as well.

It appears that Tehran has been busy lately. With all the new construction, its very possible that they may be building with more security in mind as to being protected from a nuclear blast which would be coming their way if they were to do something to the Jewish state.

Yes, as I said Iran is a rapidly modernizing country and is a very ancient civilization. It's a sovereign nation with a prosperous future.

Do these people look oppressed to you? Is the woman in chains and being dragged along by a bearded man?

Is this an outdoor stall in a medival marketplace? In the last picture women are out shopping on their own? Oh, but we heard they are suppose to be supervised by men at all times?

Are these hot sandy deserts with people walking about in tattered clothes?

Are public transport armoured tanks?

Are these mud huts or made from cow dung?

Are these women not wearing make-up and looking good? Where are their supervising men in beards?

She looks very oppressed and miserable, doesn't she? Look she's even flashing the "HELP ME" sign in Iranian.

Don't women have to cook food in Iran? And surely they can't smoke right?

There are no recreational activities in Iran right? Everyone is in the army and plotting the destruction of the west?

People in Iran are so oppressed, they can't even protest on enviromental issues, especially women:

Why does anyone want to bomb this beautiful, modern and progressive people for no reason at all?

These photos are a great find by everyone.

It is funny before looking at the photos I had the very western view of a 3rd world country. Maybe it is time the western media started showing this side of Iran rather than the view they generally give at the moment.

It looks beautfil, and with all that history I would love to go and visit. But by the time Bush and Blair are finished it will probaly look different.

PS I am not trying to have a dig at Bush or Blair, it just seems the way of the world at the moment.

Actually stoning ad public execution is not carry out anymore. It was banned few years ago but every country has its own positive and negative laws. Do you think all the laws in the US are justified and work for the people?

The person who posted that wants to be ignorant of the reality of Iran and it's people. The person who posted that lives in a country where the police attack people and barge into peoples home, and the army burn down innocent woman and young children(WACO) and where the leader of the countries lies to them all the time.

Beautiful pictures- Now show us the destruction of these beautiful places.

I doubt if many of them are standing today. ps. I dont take glee in destruction, its just the truth.

Why wouldn't they be standing? These are recent pictures of Tehran as it is today.

Are you kidding me? Look at that place. It's an obvious breeding ground for terrorist. I agree, we should liberate Iran and modernize the entire country. Bush we need your help.

That ended about 40 years ago due to the force of the United States Federal Government. I guess you agree that the U.S. government should end the stoning as well? Good...

Just a note. If you believe those pictures are of liberty then maybe you should get out of my country. If you can honestly tell me that those pictures are what America stands for then you are no better than other ignorant KKK/Skinhead out there (or were you just trying to be sarcastic.
)

Deny Ignorance.
