Can we have ATS back, please?

Hope the mods and owners, hear the message from this thread.

Please stop all of the left/right; liberal/conservative; Republican/Democrats divisiveness.

Posters baiting others into arguments should be called-out by all of us. Let peace reign.

It's basically Xbox Call of Duty in forum form, except that it's largely grown men acting like 13yr old boys.

Sorry, couldn't resist. I kinda did a similar thread to this a few days ago. I wanted to know if ATS could bring back the plus/minus signs where you could hide forums you didn't want to see on the Recents Page. I got a bunch of flack, and was told to just go to My Favorites instead of the Recent page. It's amazing how people will talk down to you in holier-than-thou tones when you just ask a simple question. I'm over 50, been here for years, yet someone half my age and who just created an account within the last couple of months think they have the right to be an ass. Online Anonymity at its best (sarcasm).

I haven't seen a poll in a while. Maybe we should have one to see how many folks would like the Politics tab back? While we're at it, maybe see if the ads can be moved there too! .

It's the members that are commenting and flagging topics, I myself have posted almost 400 threads over 10 years on a variety of subjects, my most flagged topic at 240 flags is from 6 years ago and is a political thread about Ron Paul and how the media disrespected him.

The ATS membership decides what they want to flag ,what they want to star, and what they want to comment on.
Some conspiracies have run their coarse for example 9/11, in my early days on ATS lots of 9/11 threads via flags made it to the front page, now that forum is almost dead.

This place is better than Reddit, with the exception of one sub-reddit there is mass censorship, at least with ATS they aren't censoring what members are flagging, unlike Reddit.

I still feel ATS is the best forum on the web, it hasn't been taken over by SJW that just want to high five each other all day and night. And the Mods are the best I have encountered for overall fairness.

Yeah, I'd say that's about the time it started to change around here. Now every time I log in, which hasn't been often in the last 3 or 4 years, it doesn't seem to be the conspiracy laden site that initially drew my attention 11+ years ago.
Sometimes I think I should just move on, but I always check back here periodically to see if it shows a modicum of its former self. I don't know. Like I said, I probably should just move on because I don't think it's ever going to be the ATS I initially joined again. Just don't see that ever happening.

I made a similar rant post and basically was told to suck it up and opposing Trump was too important to ignore, and that it only takes 5 seconds to click away from the front page.

What annoys me most is the people who have to interject their political trolling into EVERY thread. It could be a thread about a bigfoot sighting, and some sub-70 IQ poster will interject some talking points nonsense about either Clinton or Trump. They must not have any other thoughts in their heads besides their spoon-fed obsession with a politician.

It's bizarre, sad and pitiful.

All things aside we've both addressed here...I agree with you that this place has changed and carries a different tone since I joined too..

But, I do think change is necessary...and then again...so is continuity and consistency. Still...I wouldnt want us all to become drone-clones waiting for the "Time Machine's" Morlocks to care for us until they eat us...

Literally every second thread is about Trump. It's utterly ridiculous. I too, have joined ATS for completely different topics. I am so pissed I am not even visiting this site very often.

Nobody in America cares about politics in the EU, yet EU citizes go BONKERS over a US president. God, the vast majority of Americans don't even know who the President of European Council is!... they don't care, they don't give a #.
So why should we care about their Trump THIS much?! Just ditch it guys, please.

Actually the mods might consider banning/closing Trump threads, as it destroyed the purpose of this site, its image and the behaviour of some individuals is disgusting.

If this change is normal and temporary, we can fx that by digging up new ideas and discoveries and starting threads. Surely two or three well versed members could start things off. Surely there are items left to explore.

Npw if a good effort is mounted with negative results, we might want to look at this as ,"something else" .

The rearson I think there's more to this than a "silly season" event, is the changes ( subtle ) in friends and relatives. Maybe I'm reading too much into it. ????

I'll support any good thread. Who"s up??

I was really hoping once the election was over, we could get the front page of ATS back. Sadly, that is not the case.

There are lots of places for the political discussions to continue freely, but can we put them all in one big bucket that stops them from flooding the front page and obliterating all the other topics most of us joined up to discuss and read about?
