I am fairly convinced that the sun is a star that earth orbits.

I am having a very difficult time envisioning what you are describing with out an image.

Also I feel like I could speculate endlessly on the shape of the earth.
Why not a Cube earth?
Donnut earth?
20 sided dice earth?
Heck if we want to take it all the way this could all be a simulation in a computer and is the computer that is running the simulation on a flat plane or is it on a spherical world or neither?

EDIT: If you do have some sort of image to represent your concept I would like to see it I'm curious to see this model illustrated.

These are two separate image searches one showing a " spherical" hollow earth the other showing variations of the disk world model that flat earth proponents use.

I fail to see any connection between the two.

As to the OP:

I feel like there doesn't need to be any conspiracy against flat earthers.....I can't fathom why they thin that anyone would need to expend any energy discrediting a movement that does so on its own with every debate

They're not trying to discredit Flat Earth Theory... They are trying to lump all other conspiracies in the same category so to discredit them.

Conspiracy theory is something that I am all for. Thinking beyond what we are told, using reason, logic, the evidence of our eyes, and the ability to make connections between different pieces of information, is crucial if the human race is ever to survive...well, its own incompetence more than anything else.

However, Flat Earth theory is not simply a conspiracy theory. To indulge in FET without realising the absurdity of it, is to abandon the very logic, reason, and critical thinking ability which informs CT thinking. It is a what if, a thought exercise which although funny for five minutes, can EASILY be debunked, and has been, totally, completely, utterly. If the argument for it were the hull of a water going vessel, it would have a hole ripped in it from fore to aft, and be filling up at a rate of fifteen Olympic swimming pools per minute.

That's the deluxe vesion (Amazon link) of the original game (I own a copy).
Originally it came in a plastic case,a little like a DVD case with some expansion packs available after the initial release (I think).
The version with the super weird cards is "Illuminati: New World Order" - a trading card version.

It is actually a really good game to be honest

Interestingly though the company that made the cards got raided and investigated by the FBI in the 90's.

I recall hearing something about that.
IIRC the raid happened after they released INWO, not the original game.
I remember seeing people playing the original when I was a teenager, a looong time ago.

It is definitely ridiculous, but how would you feel if society lumped you into the FET crowd simply for being associated with conspiratorial views? This is the purpose of this new FET campaign.

I started dipping my toes in the conspiracy pool back in 96 when the internet still involved beepy screachy modems.
A lot of my sources were just books and my friends and I speculating on what the Freemasons where really up to while listening to punk rock.
The internet has come a long way since then and provides a wide range of alternative topics. To person who is a conspiracy Newbie having their world view turned upside down by opening up to wide range of information they might start questioning every thing they believe. Then they might come across a flat earth video and say to themselves well if every thing else I believe is a lie then maybe the earth being round is a lie as well and like that they are hooked on disinfo that discredits any and all other beliefs.

I think the point of this thread is not that flat earth is stupid there are many people that are approaching it from that direction.
The point is that flat earth seems to be disinformation that is being aggressively promoted among alternative media circles to discredit anything that might be true.
The surge of flat earth videos and proponents has spiked to the point that even Neil Degrasse Tyson has had to address the issue.
Its enough to make me suspect that it did not arise naturally as a trend, but is being promoted for some type of agenda most likely a disinformation campaign.

Not to get too off topic but I have really wanted to play it. It makes references to the church of the subgenius and discordians and things from Robert Anton Willsons Illuminatus Trilogy. So seems like it would be right up my alley.

Just wondering. Look at the globe, and the flight path that would take you from Indonesia to Los Angeles.

Then explain how an emergency landing of the flight from Indonesia to L.A. happened in Alaska.

Flat earth is a great way to strawman other alternative viewpoints.
