Organizers want the march to be a non-partisan protest that champion support and funding for science, science-based policy and diversity.

Cool. What cause specifically will you be marching for?
Longtime employees at three of the agencies — including some career environmental regulators who conceded that they remained worried about what President Trump might do on policy matters — said such orders were not much different from those delivered by the Obama administration as it shifted policies from the departing White House of George W. Bush. They called reactions to the agency memos overblown. On Wednesday, Douglas Ericksen, a spokesman for the E.P.A., said that grants had been only briefly frozen for review, and that they would be restarted by Friday.
“I’ve lived through many transitions, and I don’t think this is a story,” said a senior E.P.A. career official who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the news media on the matter. “I don’t think it’s fair to call it a gag order. This is standard practice. And the move with regard to the grants, when a new administration comes in, you run things by them before you update the website.”

How about marching with millions for something really important like all the illegal wars the US has conducted in the name of peace and democracy while dragging other countries in to a coalition in order to appear to give said wars a more deeply concerned and perceived legitimacy?

People love labels, I never really got that. If I had to describe myself I guess it would be a liberalist, humanist anarchist. I believe in freedom of personal choice, people and no rulers (anarchy means no rulers in my book, I realise dictionaries and wikipedia define it differently to scare people). It does NOT mean no laws, that would be silly, scary and unworkable.
But, unfortunately, others like to pick a team, wave a flag and cheer for a despot. Ah well, to each their own I guess.

I wont be marching for anything. Just curious what the OP thinks is so serious scientist need to take to the streets. The gag order you referenced was for agencies not private twitter accounts.

I thought real scientists valued research, facts and evidence.
The fake news "gag order" is debunked. It is standard practice and Obama did the same.

The people these scientists work for will probably pay for their travel and lodging to try to make sure Trump doesn't cut their funding

At this time I'm planning on participating in the one in Washington. I know of another one planned for Houston and one for Oklahoma City, Given the number of universities (including U-Texas) in Austin, it will not surprise me if there's one there as well.
...and the gods alone know where MIT will march.
