Positively 4th Street
Bob Dylan

You've got a lotta nerve to say you are my friend
When I was down you just stood there grinnin'
You've got a lotta nerve to say you got a helping hand to lend
You just want to be on the side that's winnin'

You say I let you down, ya know its not like that
If you're so hurt, why then don't you show it?
You say you've lost your faith, but that's not where its at
You have no faith to lose, and ya know it

I know the reason, that you talked behind my back
I used to be among the crowd you're in with
Do you take me for such a fool, to think I'd make contact
With the one who tries to hide what he don't know to begin with?

You see me on the street, you always act surprised
You say "how are you?", "good luck", but ya don't mean it
When you know as well as me, you'd rather see me paralyzed
Why don't you just come out once and scream it

No, I do not feel that good when I see the heartbreaks you embrace
If I was a master thief perhaps I'd rob them
And tho I know you're dissatisfied with your position and your place
Don't you understand, its not my problem?

I wish that for just one time you could stand inside my shoes
And just for that one moment I could be you
Yes, I wish that for just one time you could stand inside my shoes
You'd know what a drag it is to see you

Sounds like you're predicting a bad year for friendships? 😕

Being essentially a resolute pragmatist, my decision to engage in the current 21st century "culture wars" has made friendship difficult, that being said, I just enjoy fifty year old socially relevant ballads. No one today composes like Bob Dylan, Neal Young, Phil Ochs, Leonard Cohn, etc. I guess I have become young again in my lack of optimism.

That's quite the theme song for your life... you seem the " special agent" type😉. Just teasin' ...know nothing about you ... but that is a cool song.

a reply to: WilliamtheResolute I love bob dylan's songs as well.. and I didn't mean to offend.. it was just an offhand remark about your choice.. it sort of made me sad.. but its also reality. Peace 🌹

] Here's one dedicated to those who will fall trying to protect the streets from serious crime this year.. as well as the frustrated trying to find justice with weapons. Hopefully the numbers are few. 😕 m.youtube.com...

That is classic Nola brass music. It works for good times and bad. Pure energy.

obviously

And a government for hire and a combat site Left her,
wasn't coming in a hurry With the Furies breathing down your neck
Team by team, reporters baffled, trumped, tethered, cropped
Look at that low plane, fine, then Uh oh, overflow, population, common group
But it'll do, save yourself, serve yourself
World serves its own needs, listen to your heart bleed
Tell me with the Rapture and the reverent in the right, right
You vitriolic, patriotic, slam fight, bright light
Feeling pretty psyched
It's the end of the world as we know it
It's the end of the world as we know it
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine
