March 20 is "Meatout 2005" an international campaign promoting meatless diets through education.
Do it for your health. Do it for the Earth. But mostly, do it for the animals!
I urge anyone curious or even cynical, to check out these sites:

I am not vegetarian, but tried to look anyway. Your second link, the one with the word "factory" in it does not work. The unclickable one, "meetyourmeat" is a downloadable video. I do not download those--free or not. That left only your first link. I looked. I do not remember ever hearing of a "Meatout" day in the past, but this is the 20th one!
Following the links I found the site informative and interesting.
As an "omnivore" I will continue to eat both plants and animals.

Please I urge you to all boycott meat not for one day but for a whole year if you can.

Why? Hopefully then prices will fall and I can enjoy a bloody rare filet evey night!!!!!!! Or How does T-Bone Tuesday's grab ya.

Seriously now, the human teeth structure and digestive system is ment for a mixed diet.

"kick the meat habit (at least for a day) and explore a wholesome, nonviolent diet of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains."

I thought the "nonviolent" part was a bit unnecessary. I never understood how those Hippies could not eat meat. I would never last. Ribs, steak, Buffalo wings, ham. I just couldn't live without them. Pretty good site though. Looks to me that this day is sponsored by a couple of celebs, or people in the media anyway.

I love meat! Maybe I could give up vegetables though...I hear those tomatoes sweat before you pick them. And how fun can it be to be a celery plant and get ripped out of the earth and smothered with tofu spread and get eaten by a PETA fanatic?

If for no other reason than to send a message to the meat industry that we want all cattle tested. So count me in - I'll plan a little pasta night.

Good luck in getting your message out.

Buffalos have wings? Cool...... Do they work, or are they like ostrich wings?

What about vegetable rights?
At least animals have defence mechanisms & can run away.
The cow would go extinct if humanity stopped raising them.

In case you don't know Buffalo wings are chicken wings cooked in a hot spicy sauce, a style developed in the city of Buffalo in New York State.

Seems like you missed my joke....I apologise, its the British sense of humour, no one else seems to get it
.

I am aware of what Buffalo wings are, in fact, I think they are rather tasty!!

I was being sarcastic, you mentioned Buffalo wings, and I thought of Buffalo with little wings and.....oh never mind......

EDIT: Just checked out that Jessica Simpson bird......MMMMMMM.....tasty! Wouldn't mind having a nibble on some of her meat.......

It was a cute joke. My mistake was assuming everyone on the planet watched MTV, and had heard of this 'mentally challenged' but popular young woman.

From Wikipedia

She often appears as a stereotype of a dumb blonde, notably when she asked whether the Chicken of the Sea tuna she was eating was chicken or fish and thought that buffalo wings were made from buffalo.

Don't eat meat!?! Why don't you just ask me to cut my testicals off? Are we not men? Must we consume grass and tree bark and Styrofoam? I call on you, my brother-in, to rise up against this hanus propaganda and take back our god given right to devour the flesh of every living thing upon the Earth.

What? It's 6pm already? Sorry, but I have to go and take my medication as visiting hours are over.

Thanks to my mom and dad for going on the Atkins Diet, I have been a happy vegetarian for a year and a half!! Seeing and smelling all that nasty meat made me sick, but not as sick as it made my parents.

There are a lot of great meatless substitutes for pork, chicken, and beef. I had a tasty Gardenburger and spinnach salad while reading this post. I highly recommend it!!

Try going meatless for just a day a week, and try something new. Gardenburger's Buffalo wings are Fantastic!

Thanks for correcting that link. There is some interesting info there, also. The animals in that photo gallery sure don't have much room, do they?
That animalactivist.com site, ---PETA.-----Hooo-boy. Here is a quote from their FAQ page.

“Don’t animal rights activists commit ‘terrorist’ acts?” The animal rights movement is nonviolent. One of the central beliefs shared by most animal rights activists is the belief that we should not harm any animal—human or otherwise. However, all large movements have factions that believe in the use of force.

The trouble is, those "factions" mentioned in the quote have given Animal Activists en mass a bad reputation. Similar goals and rhetoric cause the few to have the majority condemned. You see it in Abortion and religious zealots too, as well as other places.
I'll admit that I only knew PETA by name and percieved reputation. This site allowed me to see that a percieved reputation is not a reality. Whether or not I wanted to, I learned something. Thank you again. I'm still an omnivore and intend to eat meat and vegetables on March 20, as well as most every other day.
