Got Spooked This Morning (True Story)

This morning I got up at 5:05am, made my bed real quick, and went and got a cup of coffee then went outside to have a smoke.

The cig bin-ashtray is right around the corner of the doorway, so I'd have to walk like 5 feet from the door, then around the corner of the building to reach the bin.

Ok, so I was standing there at this windowsill where I sat my cup of coffee down looking at my phone to see what was going on at ATS, facing the building, and out of the corner of my eye I saw some movement maybe 30 feet away.

I looked up and saw nothing there, just some trees in the dim light from some distant streetlights. This area was a big parking lot, totally empty, surrounded by forest, so it was very dark here. There was no one outside, no cars or anything. It was completely silent and desolate.
Just me.

Anyways, I went back to looking at my phone, had a sip of coffee, and I saw this movement in the corner of my eye again!
I was like "Wth is that?" and looked around but there was nothing there by those trees.
But whatever it was it blocked out the light for a moment.
It looked tall and dark, I guess.

Well, I was like "Ok this is messed up, hmmm, I'm going back by the doorway, haha!" and so walked back around the corner.
I started thinking to myself "What's a good title for this horror flick I just found myself in?" and I was thinking of titles to name my incident, and I was imagining something coming behind me and grabbing me and dragging me off into the woods, and that I'd be so startled and out of breath that I wouldn't even be able to scream. No one would hear me or know what happened to me.

Now get this, I turned around and all of the sudden - two massive black cats flew out at me!
They were like 2 feet in front of me, and they Hissed at me in unison!!!!

I looked at them and pointed and said "I know what you are!", and they ran off back into the woods.
Right as they went over the hill this guy came out the doorway, and I told him "you just missed it, you'd never believe what just happened to me, I just got spooked big time!". He said "Don't tell me that!" and we laughed about it as I went back into the building.

Now a little more detail, these two big black cats were huge, like 2 feet long, very thick with long hair, very wild looking. They were identical twins. Massive sized cats. Their eyes glowed crazy in the reflections of the yellow streetlights on the edges of the parking lot.
They looked exactly like this (with the 'mane' and everything) big mean cats:


When they darted off into the woods together they made a loud sound of their claws hitting the pavement of the parking lot, but their approach was 100% stealthy and silent - it was dead quiet out there I couldn't even hear the traffic far away, these cats somehow sneaked up on me in perfect silence. So freaky!!

The way they appeared was amazing, they like fell from several feet high around that corner, and just stopped right there in front of me staring me down hissing at me. There's nothing up on that wall for them to climb up on, I'm not sure how they "fell" around that corner. It was so weird and freaky!

Now add together the fact I definitely saw and pegged onto the "movement" blocking the light out of the corner of my eye twice and was so perplexed by it that I actually started thinking of naming the horror flick I found myself in.

I've never thought of that before that I can remember, and I never really see things out of the corner of my eye except for perhaps two other occasions (of a inexplicable nature).

Now I get it, this could all be a mega coincidence and all that but I don't usually ever encounter anything strange like this (though I do have a few stories I will go ahead and add in this thread for anyone wanting to read through and find out about some of these other incidents).

This thread will focus on Cats in conjunction with supernatural or unexplained Spooky incidents.

Familiar Spirits

When they served witches, they were often thought to be malevolent, while when working for cunning folk they were often thought of as benevolent (although there was some ambiguity in both cases). The former were often categorised as demons, while the latter were more commonly thought of and described as fairies. The main purpose of familiars is to serve the witch or young witch, providing protection for them as they come into their new powers.[3]

Witchcraft is heavily associated with Black Cats.

Therianthropy basically suggests that the cats could also be shapeshifters, like whatever that big shadow thing I saw in the corner of my eye could have morphed into these cats.

Familiars and Therianthropy is found in pretty much all cultures worldwide, and is repeated in the legends, myths, folktales, etc, throughout the world. This is a universal concept no matter how disparate and isolated a culture is, they know about this subject.

Therianthropy is the mythological ability of human beings to metamorphose into other animals by means of shapeshifting.

Shapeshifting

In mythology, folklore and speculative fiction, shapeshifting (or metamorphosis)[citation needed] is the ability of a being or creature to completely transform its physical form or shape.

Just as a single quick example, in Japan we have stories of the Bakeneko

The bakeneko (化け猫, "changed cat") is a type of Japanese yōkai, or supernatural creature. According to its name, it is a cat that has changed into a yōkai. It is often confused with the nekomata, another cat-like yōkai,[2] and the distinction between the two can often be quite ambiguous.

This was such an awesome event, I loved it!

It reminded me of this one incident I had with a big giant white cat, back in December 2014 when I was at my grandmothers house in West Texas.

I went outside about 3am for a smoke on the back porch, the backyard is surrounded by a 7ft high cinderblock wall.

Well around the corner I heard screaming, like someone was being killed. It was brief yet extremely loud and I'd compare it to a female's bloodcurdling scream. I turned and just stood there utterly petrified, hair raised all over my body, wondering "omg what is around that corner!!??".

Then along the top of the wall a huge white cat ran out and stopped in the middle and just sat there looking at me for a moment. Then it hissed really loud and I just yelled at it and it ran off.

That incident isn't quite as spooky as the one in the OP but it sure as hell did spook me out that night. I was like "omg man this is messed up!"

I've got another really good cat-spook story but it's a long one and it was 100% a ghost event.
I might make it into it's own thread though because it was one of the biggest events of my life in terms of discovering the truth about the paranormal being normal (real).

The part about there being two identical twin black cats reminded me of a few fictional stories where the villain would use two entities to serve as it's eyes, like crows or in the case of Ursula in The Little Mermaid it was moray eels.

They served as familiars and spies.

But I'm not so sure what type of entity I encountered here.
Is it all an amazing coincidence? I dunno!

Had a similar thing happen where I live. 3am an ungodly shriek. A couple weeks later found some tracks. Had the DNR come out, Confirmed Cougar tracks.
The state of Michigan DNR public position is to not officially confirm any new Dangerous wildlife encroaching on the urban areas.

Cats are amazing. We have a 20 pound 8 year old black cat..all muscle and a great mouser. On the night my father passed away, he jumped up on my daughter's bed and hissed at some unknown thing. He then stayed on her bed for the rest of the evening, probably feeling he needed to protect her.

FACT: In the US, black cats are viewed as bad luck. In the UK, black cats are considered good luck charms.

i know most will probably say coincidence. but, i've had personal experience that have proved to me beyond a doubt that the paranormal is real and there are things that go on in this world that are beyond logical explanation.

i believe your initial intuition is the truth and that there was more to this encounter than you just getting scared by a couple of identical cats.

familiars, perhaps yes. i have heard stories from people that seem to imply what you mentioned...people can use animals as their eyes and ears. this was certainly a deeply held native american belief as well. there are lots of stories out there about this sort of thing. and after hearing so many first hand stories, i myself believe it.

i would keep an eye out honestly. you might have a practitioner of the dark arts somewhere in your town, on the outskirts of your town or something.

do you live in a rural area? are there heavily wooded areas that surround your house? have you had any odd encounters with people who didn't seem right to you? someone who might want to check up on you?

I was at a location that's only surrounded by woods, but it's still within Nashville TN.
This occurred in the Donelson area.

I'm not usually at this area, and was just a guest for the night.
I've been there once before but nothing weird happened.

Been a long time since I've heard any of those old tunes... talking about the Jeff Beck Band. That's by far the best thing Rod Stewart ever did on vocals, in my opinion. And I don't have to say anything about Beck's guitar playing on it.

On topic, I've never had any experiences like that, but have you seen that giant black bird thread? This reminds me of those type of stories. That is, if it's not just a case of two big cats acting really strangely.

Doing a little research on dream interpretation symbolism and omens (because I see life as just another Dream):

In particular, if the black cat is biting, clawing or attacking you, then the dream means that you must acknowledge what your intuition is trying to tell you. You can no longer ignore it. Do not be afraid to face the situation.

Hmmm strange resonance with everything going on around me.
It's almost like a Universal energetic harmonization via synchronicity.

yea, Stewart for the two years he was with beck he doing great. his earlliar solo career started out alright but to me it just didn't have the same as when the beck years.

you know, what amazes me, is how many people were part of or almost part of led zeppelin had ties to beck.

Yeah, you're right. I just don't really care for any of that '80s Stewart. To me it just doesn't rock like the old stuff. I don't know, maybe it's just what I was doing back then, I played guitar and sang in a big hair band that did a whole lot of Zeppelin. Radio stuff at the time just didn't strike a chord with me.

Having a couple of big black cats show up right behind you and hissing is pretty dang creepy, and then when they run off you can hear their claws very plainly, but not when they snuck up behind you means they were definitely in hunt mode when they approached you. Freaky stuff. It does seem like they were being influenced by a negative force.

In a similar scenario recently on ghost adventures, Billy Tolley was in a cemetery and was saying a prayer out loud when immediately after this prayer a crow flew down from a tree and got very close to him and screeched at him loudly then flew away. After that 3 shadow figures could be seen approaching a tree near him.

I suppose negative spirits could use animals to scare people or do other things. By the way, in this cemetery where he was at, there have been dark ritual type people doing black magic stuff there in the past, so the activity there seems to be the real deal. Ugly stuff.

I once opened my backyard patio door to find two large pitbulls staring me down. Nothing supernatural, I believe they had been spooked by the 4th of July sounds the night before and were lost. Gave them some water put them in the dog run and called the dog rescue, but they broke out of our dog run and disappeared. Good escape artists I guess.
