THE Australia Day Skyworks display has been cancelled after two people died following a plane crash into the Swan River in front of thousands of shocked onlookers.

that article just says it stalled, the video shows it was knifing, perhaps the wind caught hold of them, he does appear to be going too slow.

This was posted within an hour or two of the occurrence....early evening by that time, do you expect the authorities to secure, liaise, investigate, and provide a report within two hours?
You can see I updated twice with newly provided details.
Other than what was posted for your edification, everything else at this stage is just speculation.... media reports included, and your half-assed assessment is a pretty pathetic. 'Perhaps the wind caught hold of them'.... can you see indications of such winds in the vids? 'He does appear to be going too slow'... does he now? can you tell me his speed from the vids? Was he setting up for a landing? Were his flaps down? Did he have an asymmetric deployment of the floats? Did he hit an alien beamship? Did he fly thru a flock of fairies and clogged his carburetor?
You tell me expert.

Can see the wreckage from my office, im surprised its just sitting in the river still the next morning.
Its not cordoned off, there's no police boats around it.. its just bobbing there.

At the moment no one knows what happened... It was a 41oC day (105 F) so perhaps that had a hand in it?

It was going very slow performing a turn, stalled has been mentioned a few times.

Many are wondering why the council allows these kinds of planes to fly so low over the river? the footage/photos dont show it but that river is jam packed full of boats for the fireworks, very lucky it happened on the causeway end of the river and not on the narrows bridge end.

RIP to the deceased.

You didn't take today off to make a loooong weekend??? LOL

I feel sorry for the pyro-technicians for now having to go out to the barges and make safe the fireworks.
And of course for the families etc....and Perth in general for the cancellation of the festivities.

I am led to believe that the craft was a Grumman Albatross, potentially the last one made of 450 odd aircraft. It looks like it might have undergone a new paint job from the online records. I will not say anymore until the registration is released for comparison to known craft.

Police press release current for those interested, just follow the previous link and go from there. No time for me...I'm off to stay on the boat the rest of the weekend.
