Wow, we didn't watch the same press conference. He politely pointed out the hypocrisy of the media's constant negative narrative undermining Trump. When called on something the media looks the other way an asks, who us. No apology. So sad.

There were several trying to get commitments to future actions / policies they are just starting to look at.

Arguing about who was at the CIA and parsing words about the previous appearances statements.

What a needy, demanding bunch.

For fun Spicer should bring out a magic 8 ball, check it and then answer their questions.

Exactly You got that in before I could.

OP, you essentially gave us your comments on what he said with next to no context. It is like you were only looking for the worst then put an opinionated twist on it. Less bias would be good.

Given another POTUS, Sean would do a great job, but I don't think he has the capability to handle the magnitude of the bs and dangerous traits of his boss.

Exactly.

He seems VERY genuine. Very collaborative and hopeful. The weekend's tantruming is all done now. Today we get to work.

So now that you got that off your chest do you have a comment on the press conference?

I was writing on the fly as I was thinking and listening. I was just really excited to know if anyone else was watching live, and wanted to ask what they saw!!!

I gave my initial thoughts in an effort to begin to form a thread where we can ALL take part in reviewing the Press Secretary's interactions with The Press.

It's no secret that I am not a fan of Trump -- but I have ALSO and CONSISTENTLY posted positive things about him.

I feel Sean Spicer's nerves. Kellyanne's character has been established, and I don't find her really newsworthy or important. I have to focus on the most original primary sources I am given.

That's called JOURNALISM. I wrote the thread from a "give him a chance" perspective. I am discussing my opinion about it.
If your opinion differs, that's fine.

I AM DEALING IN FACTS.

I am also tweaking as I go along to make the OP more coherent. Like writing a news story, you know. Toss out my initial notes, and see if anyone is interested in joining me in tossing out initial notes in a collective effort to gather the actual INTERACTIONS. This bypasses the 'tertiary' source thing.

Some of us read CNN, some FOX, some other sites.....I aim to provide this to help EVERYONE ON ATS sort through all the claims and COMPARE THEM TO WHAT WAS REALLY SAID. If it rings true, we will know. If it rings false, we will know. ALL WE ARE LOOKING AT IS THE JOB OF SPICER.

How is he dealing with the media?

How is the media dealing with him?

it's not rocket science. It's just paying attention and making notes.

sheesh

SHAMROCK 6

I'd have happily picked a topic if there was a coherent point in the OP to pick and discuss. Now that I'm watching the presser for myself (which, apparently, was the point all along) I'm picking issues and addressing them.

Well, congratulations. You can spit at me, but I got you to watch the damn thing, didn't I?
And make questions and thoughts about it.

WELL DONE you

Coming from somebody who's contributions to the thread so far are about big boy pants and triggering, your comment is indeed ironic.

You just mad that it launched from my corner? LOL

Be a contributor to reporting the facts, or be gone to some other troll party.
I never used the words "big boy pants" or "triggering." SHAME ON YOU.

THat is FAKE REPORTING.

TPP was killed in congress last year.
NAFTA actually keeps jobs in this country as a full 60% of what we import from Mexico or Canada goes into the production of American made goods or services. Mexico and Canada are the biggest consumers of American exports and in fact if an American business has any international trade at all it is probably with Canada or Mexico.
I will take opposing views on that ...discuss

I've made more than one. Are you still stuck on big boy pants or do you have anything substantive to contribute now?

I'm not mad at all. I'm disappointed that instead of debate, you make comment after comment telling people to leave your thread, and ignore actual points of discussion to do it. Or at least you ignore them when they don't agree with your point of view, anyway.

I only saw a few of those covered in the presser so far. Timestamps for them would be helpful, but not required (though Spicer's comments on the popular vote today would be most interesting, if I'm honest, so a timestamp for that would be great). I'm sure I'll get there eventually. In the meantime, do you want to post your thoughts on what Spicer said about each of those during the presser today?

Why nerves ? He's been a trump surrogate for a year. It's not like he's hasn't been grilled by the press before. He's been on every news show on cable numerous times. He should have this down pat.

Exactly, 2-3 states should not have the power to decide the fate of the country.

He mentioned that some regulations are "created" to eliminate competition.

Trump told business people today that he wants to eliminate lots of regulations.

She of the alternative facts.

She won't live that down but it seemed to have an effect because Sean stressed the desire for honest and open discourse.
I have to hope that's a step in the right direction because the lying has to stop.
If they lie about the little things there's no telling what they will lie about.
Open and honest is fine ...alternative facts ...no.

Yes, he met with business leaders (Spicer listed them and their companies) as well as union people, and he asked both sides for their point of view. I think that is VERY IMPORTANT.
And GOOD!

I was left with some of my own unanswered concerns, but I'll wait until it isn't Day One to expect all of the answers.

The reporters on issue-specific topics were able to ask their questions without interruption -- and were told that it will be addressed at a later time.

Yes, it's day one. One would hope that Trump can trust at least one of them to tell him what is priority and what is not. That lets him off the Tweet hook.
