The big difference is that Obama was a black president in a black city, rightly the numbers would be huge.

"Why" Pres. Obama had higher attendance numbers is fully open to debate.

Acknowledging the reality that he did have higher numbers as evidenced by math, video and a tonnage of photographic evidence seems to be the stumbling block for Trump and his supporters and is the topic of the Op.

Seems to matter a lot to you, as well.

Are you a trump fan-boi, too.

Facts and honesty matter.

When facts are reported and simple photographs are reported and one party constructs a litany of lies, falsehoods and excuses, then it is fair to say that to Trump and his supporters popularity matters sufficiently enough to attack reality itself and it forces honest people to defend reality.

Here, the issue is not the crowd size, but the willingness of individuals who we call our countrymen to turn off their own visual and critical thinking centers of the brain to follow what the President says simply because he's "My Guy". I give one simple warning: This is idol worship.

And that is the non-partisan threat to our democracy.
President Trump depends on exactly that.
If the people reward his Orwellian demand that there are "Alternative Facts" for those willing to dismiss their own critical thinking, then we as a nation can expect it to only get worse going forward from both parties.

Why is Trump wanting more people than Obama at his inauguration so important to Trump and his little trumpets?

I am sure it is rooted in some deep insecurity..His biographer touched on it in a recent interview, the whole thing is worth a read.

Sean Illing

So you think he'll be more concerned with his ratings than his policies, and that that will drive his decision-making?

Michael D’Antonio

Yeah, I think that's right. I think he'll be far more concerned with the ceremonial aspects of being president, with being applauded whenever he appears in public, and if that requires people being encouraged to applaud or shills being planted in crowds, that's in the Trump playbook.

Alternatively, why is so important to never Trump people for his crowd to be less than Obama's?
Remember, it was they who brought it up and started posting pics.

Can you post that link of the time you said Trump demanded that there are alternative facts...
You mentioned it earlier ...

If the people reward his Orwellian demand that there are "Alternative Facts" for those willing to dismiss their own critical thinking

...and I want to include it in a piece I am writing.

Much appreciated

When did Trump demand that there are alternative facts?
Link please?

I was choosing the more polite term "Alternative Facts" that his spokesperson Kelly-Anne Conway offered in place of LIES.

"You're saying it's a falsehood. And they're giving -- Sean Spicer, our press secretary -- gave alternative facts," she said.
Todd responded: "Alternative facts aren't facts, they are falsehoods."

www.cnn.com...

I take it you prefer I use the word "Lies" as opposed to Trump's Spokesperson's suggestion of "Alternative Facts"?

No, you said Trump demanded that there are alternative facts.
You have posted a video of someone else in an interview saying that Sean Spicer had alternative facts to the ones she was being questioned about.

That is not Trump demanding that there are alternative facts.

Can you link what you claimed please?

Specifically I said
"If the people reward his Orwellian demand that there are "Alternative Facts" for those willing to dismiss their own critical thinking, then we as a nation can expect it to only get worse going forward from both parties."

And ironically I would add that anyone with critical thinking ability would agree that every-time he tells the press and public a fact not supported by reality and then reacts fiercely when questioned on those "Alternative Facts"..it is a demand that we accept his lies as truth.

What you seem to be doing is interpreting my words in a strangely autistic way. Autistic people have both gifts and challenges like the rest of us, but if you are autistic, please let me know so that we might better communicate in an overly literal sense.

Sorry, but most of those things I've never heard, read, saw. The other's, I just patently disagree with you that those stories were fake. They may have been spun with opinion, but they were not fake reports.

Is there any middle ground to be had here?

Without any pictures, statistics or any other evidence, I would put money on Obamas crowd being larger.

Regardless of what you thought of his Presidency, it was a historic moment, and I makes sense that it would have been highly attended. In addition, the DC area is predominantly Democrat, so it would be easier to get greater numbers.

After seeing the photos and hearing the numbers, I feel that my thoughts were confirmed and he had a bigger crowd.

However, I also feel like the media intentionally used photos and numbers in an effort to downplay the numbers Trump did have, as evidenced by the clock photo that showed the overhead photo was taken at a time when Trump was not speaking.

Now I will admit I have not done that much investigation into the issue as it is unimportant to me, but after a cursory look, my feeling is:

1. Obamas crowd was larger

2. The media tried to make Trumps crowd seem smaller.

Your words were clear. They require no interpretation.

I'l assume you made it up.

The photo's have been comprehensive...even full time lapse.

Yes...SOME in the media trolled Trump on this. Others were just publishing traditional photographs of an inauguration..Trump attacked all of them without distinction and offered false information to support his false claims.

1. Obamas crowd was larger

2. The media tried to make Trumps crowd seem smaller.

If you insert (some) of the media you might be spot on.

The photograph that sparked all of this was from the Park Service releasing the same perspective and angle they have released for virtually every inauguration since the park service had those cameras.

Team Trump responded by shutting down the park services twitter feed. They followed with what they now admit were "inaccurate" numbers from DC Metro lines..

Do I think his attendance numbers to be important? Not at all...Does Pres. Trump? CLEARLY and he was willing to go on the attack and provide false information to support his false claims.

THAT is a larger issue...

I don't know what that has to do with anything.
I think we can determine from your lack of any proof that Trump never did make an 'Orwellian demand that there are alternative facts'.
Probably best to not make things up, otherwise it calls into question everything you say.

The numbers are correct. I own an operate a service business with prime coverage in DC and I can categorically state there were more people in DC during Obama's inauguration than Trump's. The subways, streets, restaurants were pretty much empty this past Friday. Most of the restaurant and service facilities all bemoaned the low numbers from Friday.

None of what I just posted are made up stuff. The numbers were low from Friday.

You are obviously having some difficulty and obsessing over a very plain passage of text trying to assign some bizarre deeper meaning that a healthy mind would not attribute to it.

How to help...

I said this..

And that is the non-partisan threat to our democracy.
President Trump depends on exactly that.
If the people reward his Orwellian demand that there are "Alternative Facts" for those willing to dismiss their own critical thinking, then we as a nation can expect it to only get worse going forward from both parties.

Where upon you read it is a literal quote...which makes no sense, since I was obviously the speaker there.

In Contrast...In the other thread you posted this about a video

originally posted by: UKTruth

Quote : "We have to teach white people how to shut their mouths". I kid you not.

Which you admitted you completely invented...aka.. LIED or created an Alternative Fact or whatever you would like to call it.

Notice how your excerpt began with "Qoute:"...then went on to include a statement in quotation marks? And then in case the reader doubted it was real, you ended the quote with "I kid you not"?

All the while you simply made up that quote...

THAT is lying..

The post of mine you are obsessing about is not quoting Trump. And the singular phrase "Alternative Facts" is properly quoted as a semantical invention of the Trump campaign to serve as a place-holder for LIES.

Hope that helps...or that your episode resolves itself soon.
