Yes, picking both sides here. Just boot Mud Pit out of the Recent list and I would be happy.

This would be nice. I have to admit that I occasionally find myself browsing forums like history, relationships, and pets just to remind myself that the people here are actually people, and that they aren't as bad as their Mud Pit posts on the recent list suggest they are.

It is a failure. It's a safe zone for trolling. Get rid of it.

It brings out the worst in everyone and also draws in trolls from outside. Then the trolling spills into other forums. ATS should trash the pit and go for serious enforcment. That means no more snowflake threads, no more name calling, no more antagonizing people, and the whole shebang. I'm all for that. I could care less if it's anything less than that. The site is seriously flawed. Clearly troll accounts are ruining the stars and flags system. Just get rid of all of it.

Is that why you have 12 threads in the mudpit?

Worth pointing out, on the front page right now 17 out of the top 30 stories (that's nearly 60%) are all in the mud pit. Putting aside if it's a useful forum or not... surely it's misrepresenting the rest of the website?

I've been here for years and years now and I still have no idea what the Mud Pit is all about..

I remember there being some kind of brief summary a few years ago that explained the forums. That is gone now and I can't find it.

So, how much of an ass can I be in the Mud Pit?

I was actually thinking about a paragraph summary of a forum that used to be found somewhere around here.. Not a thread, but an explanation of the purpose of any given forum, perhaps especially those forums that aren't self-explanatory like the Gray Area and Skunk Works.
