While we learned earlier that John McCain was responsible for handing over the 35-page "dossier" of compromising, if arguably fake, revelations about Trump's connections to Russia over to the FBI, the identity of the actual creator, who was said to be an ex-British intelligence service, remained a mystery.
No longer.
Courtesy of the WSJ, we now know his name: the former MI-6 officer, now working for a private security-and-investigations firm "who produced the dossier of unverified allegations about President-elect Donald Trump’s activities and connections in Russia" is Christopher Steele, a director of London-based Orbis Business Intelligence.... and before readers google him, beware, there is a male gay porn star with the same name, who may or may not be into "golden showers."
The real Chris Steele is profiled below, courtesy of LinkedIn.

I can not believe how the War and brimstone John McCain can keep getting elected. No matter what he is better than Teflon as far as getting stupid and dirty deeds to stick.

Damn, this whole thing is a mess.
Here's the thing that is important regarding Christopher Steele. He was a respected person within the intelligence community. One of the biggest jobs he is credited for was infiltrating the corrupt FIFA soccer organization and obtained information that helped to indict the officials that were taking millions in bribes.
This dude is legit and with the track record of Trump and his right wing Alex Jones loving minions, I will take Steele's word over the Trump administration ANY DAY OF THE WEEK.
Sorry right wingers, this isn't the fake news that you are praying for.
It has come out that the dossier and supporting documentation were fabricated by an anonymous 4Chan user, who sent the hoax to a RINO named Rick Wilson back in the Fall of last year. Rick Wilson is (in)famous for his description of Trump supporters as “single white males who masturbate to anime”. The 4Chan user wanted to embarrass Rick Wilson, who apparently tried to shop the fabrication to MSM without success (cuz they couldn’t “source” it, given that the entire documentation is a fake).
The alleged origination of a British agent as the source can be considered a “trap for the unwary,” which would easily demonstrate the documentation was an obvious forgery because the UK does not use the “Confidential” designation, although US intelligence agencies do. In the US, classified information is designated as “Confidential”, “Secret” and “Top Secret” (along with a whole host of other designations for more highly sensitive information such as nuclear weapons designs).
The British use “Official”, “Secret” and “Top Secret”. Anyone who checked on the story would instantly recognize this defect if they knew (or discovered) anything about British classification schemes, but if someone didn’t check they’d simply assume the British uses the same classification designations as the US.

CIA only included these dossiers as an example of fake news that should be discredited and ignored in contrast to their real intelligence, and CNN ran ahead and published about the fake documents without checking with their source to understand it was fake, something a cursory inspect made abundantly clear
It's also amazing to see just how many people hate Trump so much that they will jump at literally the slightest, most remote possible chance that he's implicated in something without waiting for anything resembling actual evidence to surface. The sad irony is that eventually there WILL be a legitimate scandal involving Trump, but because all these news outlets kept putting out garbage, no one is going to care and/or believe it.
