How do some ATS members have 20Million + stars on 15,000 posts?

Hey guys.

I have been looking at various account holders and something strikes me as odd. I am not going to name drop (apologies for lack of evidence) but there is one particular member who when I have looked at his posts and done the adding up of stars there is massive contradiction. I have either missed a few posts that are million stared plus? or someone gets stars for fun or being a ever present member of this community. Where are the million plus star posts please as I must have missed something truly amazing and yet I have not found one such thread on this site so was it removed?

Stars are there to mark effort and honesty and I am uncertain that some members fit the bill.

Please if you had a day where it was a double star day or I have missed a post containing million stars please feel free to guide me as I really would love to see such topics.

Its a glitch.

Members who joined before a certain date found their stats messed up, when the last round of site structure overhauls was done. Since its more of an amusing glitch, than something which causes the site to be unusable, there seems to be no particular motivation for anyone to fix it.

Its possible I am the one whom is lost..

Is it okay to be more of a reader than a poster? I mostly enjoy all the commentary and great responses on AtS.
And, truthfully, don't grasp all the statistics- and what they matter or mean. Am I being naive and lazy? Is there a goal or race for higher stats? I don't have alot of extreme knowledge to offer nor do I wish to battle on opinions alone. Am I missing the essence of some game here? I know-this is where my naivety really shows.

There is no game afoot, nor any particular reward involved for good stats. I use the statistics on how well my posts and threads are received, to monitor and quality control the contributions I make to the site, and that is pretty much all I use them for. Stars, flags, applause and such... its all feedback which helps me keep my mind sharply focused on the issues at hand, and on making the best I can of the opportunity this site provides me to read, learn and share ideas, thoughts and opinion.

Well you are getting a star for that spin on this topic.

I genuinely thought I had missed a Thread that contained 22,546,224 stars. Most things in life are a game and I'm a player and was hoping I could find a shortcut way to 666 stars as playing the long game is somewhat lost on me nowadays.

I have read on here for around 12 years, had three different user names but never really found an interest that either has not been discussed at length on ATS or to compose the thread to the high standards of some of the work here would take me 6 months I read a book that linked to another site which thankfully brought me here and Reading is probably what its all about and understanding different viewpoints that are very much the hot topic on this site.


There are certainly a million different opinions on ATS which is great because if we all felt the same and wanted the same things I would be exhausted due to my popularity.......

Your not Naïve at all you just playing your game in a different way.

I unfortunately find that in certain instances pg13 goes out the window. I am grateful that recent study show those that swear are more intelligent and have a wider variety of vocabulary than those that do not swear. In certain cases a swear word can explain a whole sentence in one word.

Playing my game in a different way? I don't understand your comment by spin on the topic. I wasn't consciously aware that I was playing a game? If so, what is that game?

I just love the mostly intelligent thought and other mind-bending experiences here. So, no game much for me.

But thank you for responding. It made the think. That's always a good thing.

Thanks for the insight. It is basically why I am here; I love to listen and learn-people are so interesting and different-it helps open my mind and I like that.

I still don't always understand the stats-guess I need to read more to understand their meaning-maybe I am missing what they mean about me. Thank you for responding-it did help.

No one starts off being conscious and the game is only unlocked in the subconscious, from birth we know right from wrong through instinct and learning from our piers which due to the special bond (mother/father) consist of nothing but love. No Money, No material items nothing but LOVE. We have that love and animal instinct beaten out of us subconsciously by Media and modern schooling. Its all a massive Vail and without even knowing you are playing a game and in order to unlock the instruction book you have to dig pretty deep down the rabbit hole. There are shortcuts and in order to take back what is rightfully humanities then a few more people need to start looking at themselves a little harder.
