The evidence is not based on a single coincidence, but on "a particular collection" of coincidences, that after a certain point, cannot be statistically called coincidence when the overall picture is seen.

There's a church, a "holy book", punishment if you're "bad" and a deity that you worship!

Unfortunately, I haven't had time to look into Scientology.

But, I'm suspicious of the name, since by training I'm a scientist.

And science is about things that can be measured.

I'm curious, though, what "measurements" are involved there, that they think justify appending "Sci-" to the cult.

Just don't ask me to explain what Scientology is, I have no clue.

But, from observing a few TV stars who claim to be members, I'd classify Scientology as a Plane 2 cult.
