I didn't intend to offer any explanation, I was raising the question of the general technical competency of the Chilean commission based on one significant issue -- assuming Kean reported their views accurately, of course. Sorry to confuse.

Very good analysis but surely during the 2 year investigation, they could have analyzed radar tracks and positions of all known aircraft including the helicopter, at the time the video was taken.
They would have known where that supposed aircraft was relative to the helicopter's position and direction the video was taken. I don't buy that known radar tracks would be misread that badly but I could maybe see that any aircraft in the area would have thought "oh that's not me, I am too far north", not to respond to the attempted radio contact.
