Iv made this thread to issue a challenge. There has been a war waging on ATS. The war between Trump supporters, Hillary supporters and supporters of neither. Although the warring parties have battled much, they rarely if ever have tried to UNDERSTAND the other side. They have never asked themselves the question, "why does the other person believe what they do?" This thread is a parley. There will be NO arguing on this thread, preferably. The sole purpose of this thread is to come together and completely understand all other sides. You don't have to agree with the other positions; but by the end of this thread I want you to totally and completely understand the "other side." The best way to win an argument is not to make the other person wrong; the best way to win an argument is to completely and totally understand what the other person(s) believe and why they believe what they do. I was personally a Trump supporter in this campaign.

What lies do you speak of? So I can tell you if I believed them or not, and if so, why.

Why would you think people don't understand the other side?
I know what the other side is about and disagree with the direction they want the country to go. No misunderstanding.

It's been my experience that most don't understand. What direction do "they" want the country to go and why?

Why did Bernie Sanders support Hillary Clinton for President ?

Understanding his thinking is paramount.

I think a rather large beachfront retirement home had something to do with that...

"I'll release my tax returns."

Crime statistics. He ran with them ones for a while.

"I know more than the Generals."

3 should be enough.

Weak compared to the Hillary Clinton classified material dilemma.

But it's worth 2 cents (pence).

Didn't he say he would release them after the "routine audit?" Is the audit done?

What did he say about crime?
When and where did he say he knew more than "the generals?"

I disagree with the democrats so much on economic issues that there is way to much to list.
I disagree with the republicans on to many social issues to list.

He said illegals where committing crimes which was true

On the subject of generals, he said we should not be arming moderate jihadis in syria (there is no such thing as a moderate jihadi)

Very poor argument from hazardous there....

I was a Trump supporter. Even though I watched the liberal news as much as the conservative news to try and figure out what was going on, CNN was less convincing for me than Conservative news. I am an Independent, and I guess I always try to go for the team that I felt would do less damage.

Hillary was a mess, and from what I could gather from CNN, she did not really have a plan and she just didn't excite me. She didn't really seem to have a message other than "I'm with her" and her campaign was confusing for me. On the other hand, if I watched a Trump speech I was energized and optimistic. He had a message that resonated with people.

I have never really put a label on it but I would probably be in that catagory.
I vote republican for president because of economic issues which I feel is the most important.

I admire your attempt at a parley.

But it isn't a disagreement, an argument.

It's something far uglier. In all past elections, people have simply moved on with their lives and accepted the results.

Why?

Because the sides wanted the same thing, they just wanted it done a different way.

Now? That is not the case.

The sides wanted different things, different results.

The sides used to want America to go/grow in the same direction.

Now they don't.

So. . . .w e have a divide. A civil war. It'll only get worse.

But I still admire your attempt.

I understand their side, but completely disagree with it. They want the middle class to suffer by socializing our country and having everyone rely on the government to take care of them. In turn that takes away from the people who worked hard to be in the position they're in. All just to give handouts to the slackers who screwed around instead of making a life for themselves. I know this situation doesn't apply to all the leftists, but it does for a majority of them. While at the same time allowing corporate America to rape and pillage the middle class as well.

Have you ever directly asked a leftist if he wants the middle class to suffer?
