To be fair I think the OP is/was a Trump supporter.

You can disagree with politicians but still support their cause. People are too emotional these days, for instance all the "OMG Obama betrayed Israel" hype.

Plus Obama did have a plan for Guantanamo Bay.

That is reporting on nine more confirmed to return to it. And remember, it took only 1 to kill 50 gay people in orlando.

I think everyone who wants them free should sponsor them in their homes.

9 is the official number. I wonder how many other undocumented detainees are there? Fair few black sites around and inside that prison, and an awful lot of people disappeared in the last few years never to be seen again.

Thing is even if they were innocent when they were thrown in there being subjected to that will probably make them very vengeful. So letting them out may be a bad idea. It is just another shameful mark on the US we have plenty already.

Gitmo may be the best place to go to get radicalized. ...

And the whole going back to terrorism is probably inaccurate because the prisoners never stopped being terrorists, they were just off the street, and when they get out they just go back to work. .we probably already have an army within our borders that are just waiting for orders .

True and if those 9 do the same thing that's 450 people who would die at the minimum. ...

The only promise he should have kept is, if you like your doctor you can keep your doctor.
He doesn't care about any of his promises, he is letting more terrorists out, this is worse than trading 5 terrorists for the soldier who left his post. For a country that doesn't negotiate with terrorists our Obama sure has done a lot of it.

Maybe obama should have let them go like promised before his first term instead of ignoring them for 8 years letting them rot away, even if they went in innocent they come out radicalized and with a inbred hatred for the U.S. Now all of a sudden days before obama finally gets kicked out he needs these sort of people to be free to do as they please.

I want them to have a fair trial just like anyone else. How can anyone be against that? This situation would be no different than if America were invaded, and people were put in prison by the invading army sometimes just for being at the wrong place at the wrong time. That happened to some of the prisoners at Gitmo, and there is no reason why they shouldn't get a fair trial.

"Let justice be done though the heavens fall." I feel like we're devolving as a species when I read sentiments like the one above. What about people who were put in an ordinary prison when they were innocent, should they be released?

The rights guaranteed by our Constitution should extend to everyone beyond our shores regardless if they are a citizen. And if they don't, then the rights our government gives to non-citizens will become the rights our government gives to its own citizens.

So bush and obama have been running gitmo throwing people in there with no trial whatsoever for more then a decade but now trump becomes president and all of a sudden for some reason he is the one that has to prove that they are are there for good reasons.
