What's with the short location descriptions on USGS today? I noticed it once before too, but before I could post a comment about it, it was back to normal.

Perhaps they are getting too much stick with their way of giving locations. Some of their locations are just stupid.

Quakes they mark for Tasmania are actually down by Antarctica just as an example. It was silly.

I will be happy if they change the locations to something a little rational.

This subject comes up fairly often in this thread.

Hey is anybody else having trouble with the map layer on USGS earthquake map only displaying gray scale?
Cannot display terrain, street, or satellite???
Have kept checking back and still the same. Is it just me?

Yes, A small one. The buoy's only showed around a 2' swell.

There have been many aftershocks.

The whole aegean region is very active right now.. We had a quake this morning here on Crete, Island Greece.

South end of the Salton Sea. I have noticed small swarms in that area before.

Makes you nervous, when they tell you that area is "Locked and Loaded"

And the fact that they have thermo plants there.
