I thought about it, but only if nobody did another one after a couple weeks or something. But nah, this is your turf man, and you run it well. I'll stick to the real time monitoring side, and keeping us updated with Yellowstone swarms.

A couple of earthquakes off Canada near B.C.
And there's a big storm right on top of it. Also, yesterday or the day before, there were a couple in the Atlantic and there was a storm there too. This year has been slow for big Atlantic storms and there have been fewer earthquakes as well.

There has been a little action mid way down the Juan de Fuca fault in the last couple of weeks.

We shall see.

Not to mention the 6.5 West of Eureka Cali.. several weeks ago! This one was close to the Juan -Cascadia- San Andres junction.

Those 5's and 6's at either end of those 2 faults might be a little cause for concern.

You could also look at those with some relief. Energy being released rather than building up.
No quakes means stress is building.
It's the old "glass half full or half empty" depends which way you look at it.

West Chatham Rise, approx 350km east of Cook Strait
Mag, UTC, Lat, Long, Depthkm
4.16, 08/01/2017 08:42:38, -42.32666, 178.46924, 34.91
3.86, 08/01/2017 11:43:46, -42.31201, 178.396, 34.91
3.98, 09/01/2017 02:47:37, -42.59766, 178.53516, 136.91

Not sure what this means, they are rare here, but not unknown, I can't recall 3 together like this before, the size is the size of earthquake size you get during a volcanic eruption (Chile, Iceland, Japan etc) but there are no known active volcanos at this location, and they are well spaced out timewise.
You can see 2 of them on the 08/01 map nzeq2017.blogspot.co.nz...
the 3rd one (different day so doesn't show on the map) is just a few km to the SE of these

moving across the Hikurangi subduction zone towards the Wairarapa coast

I wonder if this has anything to do with the row of quakes spreading out from Kaikoura I mentioned on QW2016 Jan, 1 2017 @ 09:43 AM
Its a bit of a stretch but there isa major undersea canyon(fault?) that runs out from Kaikoura NE then meets up with the Cook Strait Canyon and then heads further out east towards where these were.

I wouldn't expect the next M7+ to be right here, but the East Coast Wairarapa has had a decent one here before

Oh and at the same time
it has been 3.25 days since the west end of the Hope Fault did anything at Inchbonnie. The total there (in tandem with the Culverden-Cook series (which I say is also part of it)) @ 105 events
