I wonder if this has anything to do with the row of quakes spreading out from Kaikoura I mentioned on

Its a bit of a stretch but there isa major undersea canyon(fault?) that runs out from Kaikoura NE then meets up with the Cook Strait Canyon and then
heads further out east towards where these were.
I wouldn't expect the next M7+ to be right here, but the East Coast Wairarapa has had a decent one here before

it has been 3.25 days since the west end of the Hope Fault did anything at Inchbonnie. The total there (in tandem with the Culverden-Cook series
(which I say is also part of it)) @ 105 events
