Explosion heard in Tioga County, New York

Interestingly enough, while reading through comments on the tioga county Facebook page I came across a couple people that said a very similar thing happened in Connecticut yesterday. Loud explosion heard by many people but no fires or smoke. I hope they can find the blast site for the one in Connecticut and do testing on whatever explosives if any are there and see if it's the same as what happened here. Definitely makes you wonder if they are "tests". There were also some people on the Facebook page saying a similar thing happened in Ohio as well, but I have not been able to confirm that with an actual source.
