WWII would never have been won if not for our Russian allies.

20,000,000 Russians lost their lives fighting the globalist socialist Nazis.

They will make a fine ally against the modern globalists and islamofascists as well.

First of all Russia is not my enemy, greed and desire to have power which is abused is what I am against.

You're statement is an oxymoron.

You should read more about Putin and the history of Russia.

I am sixty one years old. I have experienced the bomb shelters in schools and the drills that we had to do when we were kids to prepare for a nuclear attack. I have seen the actions of many rulers of Russia, and Putin is one of the best ones they have had. I remember when the KGB ran everything.

I also remember when our CIA used to hire mercinaries to get rid of governments we did not like. I remember the Vietnam war. I signed up for the draft just after our government quit sending people to get shot at in wars we should never have been fighting.

My Dad was a POW and injured in WW11 and I heard all the stories about how soldiers were told to take a hill and were slaughtered. The hill had no significance it was just a place to send the pawns to kill each other.

How old are you and why are you brainwashed so badly. I learned a lot from friends that went through wars.

20 million, the thought doesn't even compute.

I cannot imagine.

Right, because Iran and Russia aren't allies.

Ummm...Vet here...I absolutely love the fact that saner minds are prevailing and that Odogma is out the door...I only hope it hits him in his progressive A$$ on the way out...

I also love the fact that psychotic warmongering Hillary has been kicked to the gutter where she belongs...

I think it's about damned time we stopped the drive towards conflict...The endless wars need to cease...it's time to stand down and work towards friendship...not conflict...

Our President-Elect just tweeted:

Personally, I think Putin is playing Trump like a fiddle and he's going to gas Trump up and they are going to use it against the US. Russia is going to take this opportunity to gain intel on our capabilities they don't know about and at the end of Trumps term Putin is going to make a fool out of America and Trump.

Go watch some of Putin's speeches. The man is extremely intelligent and thoughtful. Western media has painted him as the boogeyman in order restart the cold war. And the cold war is (hopefully soon was) rebooting because of Russia's annoyance over all the NATO bases being built near it's borders.

The actual truth is that the USA has been the aggressor all along.

Trump is a smart man, used to doing business deals. I saw him say in one of his speeches that he has more than once bought into a 'bad' deal, fully knowing it at the time but still made a lot of money out of it. He is a big picture man, so he has his eyes open.

And what exactly has Iran done on the world arena in the last 30 years that any of those middle eastern nations hasn't?

I would call Saudi Arabia a bigger threat personally.

I like it much better than the "lets see if we can kick off wwiii and nuke the whole world" approach of Obama and Clinton.

There is no USA vs Russia. Its only the MSM making Russia look like the big bad boogie man.

Thankyou for your input as a vet and I agree, let's work toward friendship. The positive global synergy the two great nations could create if they put their war toys away excites me greatly.

How is he getting cozy? He might be saying some things that make Putin look good. From a negotiation stand point its a smart move. Trump knows better than me or you. He is smarter than most everyone on capital hill. That's why no one can figure out his next move or what he is doing. Most people think he flies and says from the hip but it seems to work pretty good for him. Just ask Clinton.

18 year vet,... wife is a 15 year vet... what do we think..

Yay..sane minds have a chance of prevailing...

I guess the OP thinks the current Administrations scorched earth diplomacy they are pulling is a good thing to... thankfully Putin is playing it smart and waiting... then he can hold obamas temper tantrum over the incoming president when they sit down to talk.

then when trump gives something to the Russians to smooth over the insults thrown by the previous administration the democrats can act all outraged... even though the problem was caused by democrats.

I have never seen such a large group of fully grown children, crying and stomping their feet for so long... and it is scary to me watching the Obama temper tantrum on his way out... tells me we dodged a big bullet.

...was something -everything - glorious about the Soviet Union.

I can tell you what that everything was too. The unlimited power, the wealth, not being pushed around by their neighbors, when they wanted something they'd take it while other superpowers looked on, because the USSR's military was among the greatest at the time.

There's a reason the term MAD, Mutual Assured Destruction, was coined. The USSR was that reason.

I am with you.

Moreover, I think Trump is a traitor. I am a pretty liberal democrat but I am absolutely with McCain and Graham on this. And if they did this to a republican I would not change my opinion one bit.

Russia needs to really pay for what they did. And if that means a shooting war then lets get it done. And it might mean just that.

To be honest, I don't think that anybody "plays Trump like a fiddle"--he's way too smart for that, and way too narcissistic to let it happen.

But to answer the question in your thread title, getting cozy with nations politically is always a better idea than pissing them off on your way out the door, which is what Obama is doing. But I don't see his tweet as "getting cozy" with anyone--it shows that he respects Putin for not knee-jerk reacting to Obama's stupidity, and it probably shows that Putin respects Trump enough to know that he won't be dealing with another weak-kneed president of the U.S., so it would make sense to postpone any reaction to Obama's temper tantrum until the new boss takes over.

When there is a variable in the equation that is that big, you don't just go all-in before knowing what you'll be dealing with. I agree with Trump--Putin is a very smart man, but that doesn't mean that I want to be buddies with him.

With Obama pissing in the Israel pool, shouldn't we have at least one ally capable of actually doing something?

Then surely you remember the thing called the Berlin wall.

Russia put nuclear capable missiles in Cuban as a response to the US putting missile defense in Italy to deter the spread of Communism.

USSR had a really bad habit of keeping and ruling the territory they won fighting Nazi Germany.
