I think it is more about the EXTREME and RADICAL religious groups. Christian, Catholic, Islam...etc. They all have their Extremely twisted sides that end up making the entire religion feel the heat of their many grievances against everyone else.

I personally think organized religion is nothing more than a method of control.

Now, Scientology is a barrel of f'ing monkeys.

Thanks, I kind of agree.

Religion is important for community in most cultures, I think CORRUPTED organized religion sects are what you said.

Certainly not all though. There are good ones and bad, mostly good, but the bad get the press.

One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter, the term terrorist is used extremely loosely when it does not confirm to the "norm" Were the French Resistance during the 2nd World War terrorists? They were to Nazi Germany and the Axis nations but to the Allies they were freedom fighters. Were the IRA terrorists during the troubles? they were to the UK government but to their supporters, they were freedom fighters.

Who decides what a terrorist is and isn't?

How so?

Seems straight forward to me.

Were you hoping for a place where you would be encouraged to slander Islam?

I can't accommodate you.

As for bait, my OP and thread title aren't deceptive at all. I asked a question and explained why.

He who writes history, the victor.

If you win, you're a freedom fighter, if you lose, you're a terrorist.

Personally I label groups that commit heinous acts against the innocent as terrorists, regardless of what cause they claim to be fighting for.

Absolutely.

Although I personally denounce whoever is behind all modern terrorism, which happens and can't truly be defined as freedom fighting due to it being despicable.

You are correct though, in my opinion.

Who among us thinks Islam=Terrorism?

Assalaamu alaikum.

According to the Qur'an 8:60 (Surah Al-Anfal), Allah commands terrorism:

"Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies of Allah and your enemies, and others besides, whom ye may not know, but whom Allah doth know. Whatever ye shall spend in the cause of Allah, shall be repaid unto you, and ye shall not be treated unjustly."

Joshua 6:20-21

20 When the trumpets sounded, the army shouted, and at the sound of the trumpet, when the men gave a loud shout, the wall collapsed; so everyone charged straight in, and they took the city. 21 They devoted the city to the Lord and destroyed with the sword every living thing in it—men and women, young and old, cattle, sheep and donkeys.

Deuteronomy 2:32-35

32 When Sihon and all his army came out to meet us in battle at Jahaz, 33 the Lord our God delivered him over to us and we struck him down, together with his sons and his whole army. 34 At that time we took all his towns and completely destroyed[a] them—men, women and children. We left no survivors. 35 But the livestock and the plunder from the towns we had captured we carried off for ourselves.

Deuteronomy 3:3-7

3 So the Lord our God also gave into our hands Og king of Bashan and all his army. We struck them down, leaving no survivors. 4 At that time we took all his cities. There was not one of the sixty cities that we did not take from them—the whole region of Argob, Og’s kingdom in Bashan. 5 All these cities were fortified with high walls and with gates and bars, and there were also a great many unwalled villages. 6 We completely destroyed[a] them, as we had done with Sihon king of Heshbon, destroying every city—men, women and children. 7 But all the livestock and the plunder from their cities we carried off for ourselves.

Numbers 31:7-18

7 They fought against Midian, as the Lord commanded Moses, and killed every man. 8 Among their victims were Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur and Reba—the five kings of Midian. They also killed Balaam son of Beor with the sword. 9 The Israelites captured the Midianite women and children and took all the Midianite herds, flocks and goods as plunder. 10 They burned all the towns where the Midianites had settled, as well as all their camps. 11 They took all the plunder and spoils, including the people and animals, 12 and brought the captives, spoils and plunder to Moses and Eleazar the priest and the Israelite assembly at their camp on the plains of Moab, by the Jordan across from Jericho. 13 Moses, Eleazar the priest and all the leaders of the community went to meet them outside the camp. 14 Moses was angry with the officers of the army—the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds—who returned from the battle. 15 “Have you allowed all the women to live?” he asked them. 16 “They were the ones who followed Balaam’s advice and enticed the Israelites to be unfaithful to the Lord in the Peor incident, so that a plague struck the Lord’s people. 17 Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man, 18 but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man.

The God of Abraham is a cruel one indeed.

No, i don't think Islam equals or equates to terrorism.

However, I do think (feel) it represents violence and oppression. While I do not like any religion, I feel Islam is particularly violent, given some of its tenants; ie: being the "last and final religion" has no other connotation but absolutism.

I do not think all believers or followers of Islam are violent - far from it. But i do believe the religion by its very nature encourages violence and segregation. Thankfully most of its followers are more civilised than its archaic savagery and do not think people should be put to death for leaving the faith if they want, or expressing personal freedoms, empowering women, not abusing children, etc.

I'm guessing much of its innate violence comes in part due to its relatively 'young' age in comparison to some of the other major religions (Christianity, Judaism) who have managed to get most of the initial violence of establishment out of their systems.

But of course, people are people and will always find an excuse to be cruel and mean to one another, often through the guise of a made up belief system like religion (shrug)

The islamic "Festival of Boys" proves that islamists DO INDEED enjoy raping little boys.

Also the fact that islamists are raping children all over Europe is more proof.

But,I'm sure that you will continue to lie over and over about these facts in your thread-you know, practice Taqqya (forgive my spelling).

I would prefer people "holding up 'God hates fags' signs" than islamists putting bombs on children and sending them into market places.

Or feeding a mother her own child.

Speaking solely from my own intimate experience with a strict Muslim, I would say for me it is more about intolerance of the culture you are integrating into.

My experience comes from my interaction with my ex's new husband. My ex and I have a 10 year old that we have raised with an open mind but some spiritual and Christian values. We have always celebrated Christmas and Thanksgiving and Halloween and whatever other US holidays (yes I know Halloween isn't a holiday) we celebrated as children.

My very first interaction with him was him telling me that all communication with my ex must go through him. Well you can imagine how that worked out for him.

He doesn't allow any pork product in their home, and my daughter loves bacon and pepperoni pizza. He won't celebrate Christmas because they have a 6 month old boy together now and he doesn't want him raised believing these things. They don't do Thanksgiving or Halloween, but he expects me to allow my daughter to be with them on Eid to celebrate.

Anywho...my ex is an adult and can make her own decisions. Unfortunately for her these decisions resulted in my taking her back to court for primary custody and decision making rights. I won in court and now he no longer communicates with me at all. This presents a problem because I want my daughter to have a great household at both homes. Unfortunately her mother just goes with whatever the person she's with says and has no backbone to stand up at all. So the relationship for my daughter and her new stepfather is now uncomfortable which sucks.

Anywho...all I can do is look out for the best interests of my daughter and that is what I've done.

Outside of that, sure I've interacted with Muslims on many occasions and have nothing really to say. They are like anyone else I talk to at a store. When I go get salami or whatever at whole foods, there are 3 Muslims that work behind the meat counter and are always helpful even able to recommend substitutes for a salami they may be out of.

As far as very personal interaction, the only one I have had this with is my ex's new husband. I truly hope he isn't representative of the whole of the male community because with intolerant views such as his, coming to the US from Tunisia, and expecting those that have been raised differently to just bow down and accept your view is likely to not happen. I don't expect him to bow to mine either. There is no reason for me to not have communication directly with my ex, no reason they can't celebrate all holidays and no reason my daughter can't have bacon at their house....none other than intolerant religious views.

The funny thing about religion to me is that so many scream when a dictator or someone comes into power that they believe will crush one side or the other, yet religion is praying to a dictator that expects you to follow their laws and had major consequences if not.

Personally I dislike organized religion in general because it is more oppressive and teaches more intolerance than anything else in the history of man. It has been the cause of almost every major war in history and in my opinion, the root of almost all racism that has occurred since mankind began practising.

Uh-Oh.

We are posting too many facts about the most bloodthirsty and bigoted religion on the face of the Earth.

That means that ATS's Preferred Posters (Hazardous,Sremmos,Kali, etc.) are going to try to hide the facts with their code sentence "I can't believe that ATS has been reduced to this".

And the liberal mods will shut down the thread. (Which they would NEVER do if the facts being exposed were about Christians or Jews)
