CANBERRA, Australia - Police in Australia have detained five men suspected of planning a series of Christmas Day bomb attacks in the heart of the country’s second-largest city, officials said Friday.

The suspects had been inspired by the Islamic State group and planned attacks on Melbourne’s Flinders Street train station, neighboring Federation Square and St. Paul’s Cathedral, Victoria state Police Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton said.

Good on the police there for stopping this. With as large scale as it was, it does make me take pause and think that more attacks are certainly possible.

Stay aware folks.

I have a lot of family in Australia, trust me, if anything went down they'd beat the 'censored' out of them.

The Men, in my Family anyways, wouldn't stand for that stuff. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if they were holding a Fosters while beating the crap out of the guy in the process. lol

They love their beer!

Good Thead!

In my view, the stereotypical Aussie is far from weak...moreso for the females!

Seeing as they apprehended these guys prior to them having a shot of carrying out their mission, I'd say that holds true.

lol you're right. My cousin Michelle would have had that guys head on a stake before the guys even got a hold of him.

I'm getting visuals of that right now haha.

If convicted, they will all spend a long time in maximum security prison before being deported back to their own # hole country of origin.
That's how we roll.

They will spend much of their time in isolation 23 hour days in their cell. If they are non citizens they go off shore for their jail time such as Narau island.

Honestly, with the recent uptick in violence, I'm beginning to think there might be a string of attacks coming this Christmas. Be vigilant.
