Happy New Year everyone.
I'm over on the island, with no ferry service today and (as I feared) my mum has been rushed back into hospital.
They should NEVER have sent her home in the first place and I am somewhere between furious and a word I'd get banned for typing here.

I don't usually post my sad stuff here, and Night always gives me grief for that! But, I suppose you guys are practically family to me so here goes...

My mum is 81 and has breast cancer which has spread into her lung. 5 days after her diagnosis we found out that my sister also has breast cancer. Sis was already just coming to terms with contracting MS too. On the day my mum was taken into hospital, I found out that my Uncle Tommy (mums brother) had a serious Stroke and is still in hospital. When I phoned my best girl pal to tell her about mum, she broke down and told me that she has just been diagnosed with life - threatening Viral Meningitis.

We delayed making the decision to come over to the island until the last minute because I knew there would be no ferries today. But we really really needed a short break from all of the recent stress and pressures before my sis goes in for her cancer op on the 4th.

I told everyone who'd listen that it was way too soon for my mum to be sent home. Now I'm stuck on the island until tomorrow, so I can't go see her. I don't know how serious it is yet, my sis will send me updates when she can.
I'm not wanting any sympathy or anything, these things happen and sometimes it sucks. But you matter to me and I just thought that you should know why I may not have been quite myself lately. Gx

Gordi,

You and your family are in my prayers.
I believe in prayers and although we don't always understand or see the results of them,
they do strengthen the recipient and help in ways sometimes we can't immediately see.
So what I'm saying in my inarticulate way is
I'll pray for you.

I think it was a very wise choice to give your selves some rest. It sounds like the future will be filled with hard times. So nourish your selves.

LOL! Yah I s'pose I am a bit of a lightweight anymore. I'll admit that. Haven't really drank for months. Used to be a daily thing years ago, but it started taking over My life, so I quit. When it started causing problems, it was the problem, so I eliminated it from My Life. Things, in general, got Much better after that!!

Wafting on the warm updrafts of Accasia, The Dragons gracefully flew over the island on Their Security flights. They were always looking for anything, anyone, that might come here to cause trouble. We all know That is not allowed! The Dragons will and do keep a watchful eye on everything that comes near, or into Accasia....

I'm so glad that you decided to share with your Shed family Gordi. I know a lot of people keep their personal matters private, but I have learned that strength comes from not only ourselves, but those around us who love and support us.

You are experiencing a lot at once and one thing alone can be stressful. I would imagine that things are rather overwhelming at the moment. I will keep your Mum, Sister, Uncle and Friend in my thoughts and prayers. I will also keep you, Chrissie and the boys in my thoughts and prayers as well. You know that I am but a PM or e-mail away and that I am here for you.

So many people throughout the different incarnations of the shed have said things like they don't want to bring the shed down because it is a magical place and a place of serenity, a place to escape from our troubles. It is all of that, but so much more. If we can't share our real lives, our true selves with each other than the shed has failed. People have also said things like well, their problems are nothing compared to what others may be going through.

We are all great friends/family here and all our feelings matter. I have never met a more loving and compassionate group of people than I have in here. It is love that built the shed and love that binds and keeps us together.


So Gordi, keep us up-dated. Take care of yourself and try to eat and rest when you can. Much love and light to you and the family!
