I've quickly read the article and quickl skimmed through replies, maybe it's been mentioned before:

Why is Obama so heavily against this registry?


The obvious narrative is the "political corectness" one, yet we can all agree there's very little "politically correct" about droning people down. The current scapegoating of Russia (by Obama), aswell the maintaining of the now proven false narrative regarding Syria don't add to his list of recent political correctness.

Seems an odd thing to defend so vigorously.

also, i dont see anything wrong with vetting anyone coming into the country and not taking in people where we know the country of origin wont take them back

A Muslim registry would be an utter and complete waste of time and money. He'd be lucky to catch 1 terrorist in 10 years using that method. 99.999999 % of Muslims in America are not terrorists. Are we this cowardly now? Continue to sacrifice our freedoms for the sake of a little safety? And it would be "a little" in every sense of the word.

The idea is not stupid because Trump brought it up. It's stupid because it's stupid. Although Trump trying to push the idea doesn't surprise in the least.

Obama doesn't want to lose a rich source of votes for democrats which can be the only logical reason why something like this would be shutdown. The proof for this is everywhere Obama has affected similar things in regards to shielding sources of votes, and even encouraging illegal aliens to vote without fear of reprisal.

You know what it did do? It kept people from over-staying their visas. Essentially, it prevented illegal immigration.

Which is why Obama shut it down in 2011. And now he wants to wipe it out completely because the real truth of the matter is that it did work, which was exactly what barrak hussein obama had a problem with.

Sorry for the late response--holidays and such.

I'd be willing to be that there are myriad government programs that are defunct but still getting money allocated for them. I'd be willing to bet that this is a grand scheme deployed to fund programs that the government is unwilling to make public or even want certain people (president, maybe) to know about.

That's my tin-foil comment for the day.

The system named "the National Security Entry-Exit Registration System" is the subject.

The Obama Administration is going to dismantle the National Security Entry-Exit Registration System — a program that, while unused since 2011, could have been used as the basis for Mr. Trump’s Muslim registry. While the program was largely a failure, it subjected immigrants from specified countries to monitoring — something that may be appealing to the Presidnet-elect.

Was/Is President Obama a Muslim? He did FAR MORE to protect that religion, than he did to protect/assist CHRISTIANS who are persecuted. His "scorched-earth" departure from office was not an honorable hand-off to Donald Trump.

Is already a registry of any immigrant and foreigner that enters the country, with visas, they are fingerprinted and digitally scanned and tag.

So to say that is not happening is no truth.

Is part of the laws concerning immigration and passed by congress after 9/11, with the patriot act, is just that Obama never really talk about it.
