Seriously though, snipers are cowardly murderers. Killing people, who are no immediate threat to them, from 100s of yards away.

I understand your sentiments, and agree to a certain extent... BUT this is how we wage war these days. A sniper is no more or less a coward than the drone operator killing from a distance, or carpet bombing an entire town, or many of the other acts of war we commit in the name of our country. When we send our men and women to war, what happens from there is between them and their God. If we have a problem with how we/they wage war, then we take it up with those sending them off to war and those establishing the rules of engagement. Not the grunts doing the dirty work.

On the other hand, I have a much bigger problem with this guy bragging about his kills... even if I'm not even sure how much to believe him given his well-known penchant for lying. For all I know he's lying about that as well.

As someone coming from a military family -- with one member just home from deployment and another still in harm's way -- talking about one's service is a huge no-no. An even bigger no-no is to ask about it. I guess that's the original "don't ask, don't tell" military policy.

His Kills are documented with the US Navy. They would have to be lying for him.

His Silver Star came for killing 91 enemy combatants in a 5 month period in 2006, only a portion of which were long range kills. He was shot multiple times and survived being blown up multiple times. The Navy Credits him with 150 CONFIRMED long range sniper kills. His 4 Bronze stars have a V device which means he showed heroism in the events that led up to him being awarded the bronze star.

Yes, he embellished his record slightly. His wife claims he did not as his original discharge papers DO credit him with 2 Silver and 6 Bronze. The Navy later claimed they made an error as they could only located the paperwork for 1 silver and 4 bronze. His personal sniper log showed well over 150 kills, but the Navy could only confirm 150, so that's what the Navy officially credited him with.

The only thing I felt he flat out lied about was the Jesse Ventura thing and I find his claims of shooting Katrina Looters to be dubious at best, and making him a murderer at worst. War affects people though...each survivor in different ways.

I also want to clear up this snipers are cowards bull#.

Special forces snipers are often forward observers for their team, going in SOLO while a large team awaits instructions/intel from their sniper. They often have little to no support and know that if they get located their is little chance of survival.

This is a close personal issue for me so it really irritates me when people call these guys cowards. I bet these same idiots love the hell out of Legolas...but that coward sits in the back and fires a bow...

Whys it news when some piggy decides to off himself but never reported accurately when Police pop 9 rounds is some poor souls back?

Who cares why he's dead, maybe he simply could not live with himself because of the profession he choose to follow?

I know i could not live with myself if screwed people over in the same manner as a significant percentage of Police do on a daily basis.

Why thank you sir, ile have a bottle of house red please.

It's true what i said through, if i came across as rather crass i apologize.

Edit: Just to add some context, i had a friend that committed suicide down to Police and have had a few horrendous run ins with them myself even through i have absolutely no Police record for anything other than a misdemeanor. So i suppose i am rather jaded where Police are concerned.

Nah. They're cowards who hide in ghillie suits and murder people from a distance.
In Chris Kyle's case, he was a liar and a fraud also.., don't forget about his stolen valor either.

I'm guessing by your posts your best option is to educate yourself out of the world you love in.

What stolen Valor? You mean his 6/4 as opposed to 5/2? I covered that. His discharge paper matches his claims. The navy, years later, edited his discharge papers claiming they made a mistake. They did the same to 3500~ other discharge papers and many of those people claim the navy lost their records and their correction was the mistake. Kyle is dead so he can't fight with the navy over the "correction" like others are.

If you aren't talking about his medals, what are you talking about?

He claimed 2 silver stars, he was awarded 1. He claimed 5 bronze stars, he was awarded 3.
Link...
Oh yeah, don't forget about his lie about having knocked out Jesse Ventura either.

His discharge papers agree with his claims. The Navy openly admits they lost paperwork.

From your own link you didn't read:

The Navy has previously released a copy of Kyle’s discharge paperwork — typically known as a DD Form 214 — that showed he earned two Silver Stars and at least five Bronze Stars with a V. Those documents are typically prepared by a clerk in a service member’s unit, and can be corrected if an error surfaces. However, those same discharge papers also are often used as a primary source to determine whether a service member has been lying about his military history — a so-called case of “stolen valor.”

So the Navy's original paperwork agrees with his claims. If the navy admits they lost paperwork and made errors, always go with the source document.

I have discussed his lie about Ventura at length, and heavily defended Ventura going after his estate for the libel/defamation suit. I think he and his friends who were there and corroborated his story were stone cold drunk. I don't think they knew who they got in a fight with.

He didnt lie about his stars...
He also claimed over 200 kills
Over 160 were confirmed but ill take his word it was over 200 because other's agree...
He didnt just kill from a couple hundred yards away he killed their best from over a couple thousand yards away...
He saved peoples lives alot of peoples lives...
Not just by shooting those who were endangering the lives of his brothers but also by endangering himself by escorting them to saftey...
And he also further endangered himself by choosing to help troops with with entry when he saw the need for the greater training he possessed...
When he was done over there he still was not done helping his brothers for he gave more of himself to help them cope with the horrors that tormented them...
And in doing so paid the ultimate price...
All of those things make him a hero...
Some think he was called the Legend because he killed so many enemies...
He was called the Legend because everyone there knew he had their back and loved them and he was their Hero...

I guessing you should keep guessing then.

People are well aware of what Police have become these days. Nothing more really than a paramilitary organisation that enforces the will of oppressive totalitarian Orwellian minded oligarchs, and also there own brand of perverted justice.

I imagine the sensible option, for most people, is to avoid any and all contact with Police or in the event that they do encounter Police tread very carefully around them, and always record them on video when possible.
