Did you read the actual information that you posted? This was when she was finance minister in the French government, prior to joining the IMF. She didn't even pay the money out, she referred the case it was in regards to to arbitration. The actual arbitration panel awarded the amount, not her, she then approved it based on their findings.

If anything, if you read the detail you could very easily surmise she is being used more as a scapegoat.

The arbitration was done by a private panel and not the courts - very unusual, especially as it was awarding a handout to a friend of the then French President. A child would have spotted the conflict of interest and the dangers of using a private panel. She was quite rightly charged with negligence in her duties as finance minister - she should never have allowed this to happen. She is either corrupt or stupid. Either way, the fact she has been found guilty but is keeping her job at the IMF, where she can continue to be corrupt or stupid just at a larger scale, speaks volumes.

She fled to Washington? That's odd (not really ofc). Im pretty sure we have extradition agreement with the EU. Wouldn't mexico have been better because im pretty sure they have no such agreements with the EU.
