Trying to step back from the darkness of some disturbing topics that surfaced during the brutal 2016 Pres election campaign, I, being a self certified COD individual.. For the first time since Tyson took a bite out of Holyfield's ear.. I went to youtube to watch some classic boxing matches... I saw plenty of classics, but I also discovered some more recent classic battles, so I wanted to start with this one from 2011... Two fiesty blokes from the UK... Cleverly vs Bellew ... the first match...


It's been awhile.. and looks like Bellew is going to battle another guy I never heard of Haye.. this spring...

Let's just say that this Cleverly-Bellew battle has me trying to reconnect with the boxing game...

EDIT: Take a look at Kovalev vs Simakov. Sergey KILLED a man in the ring. Lost his undefeated record recently to American Andre Ward in a highly disputed judging result.

Anything with the greatest boxer ever.

He was a beast! His personal story was amazing and controversial as well.

AH yes!! BATTLES!!! not some prima donna collecting a big payday over a scrub... I wrote down some notes on some folks I haven't seen until the past week.. Chicon-Limon was one... there are so many "no holds barred" real battles out there...

I was pleasantly surprised... personally not a fan of the new extreme fighting deal.. a bit too brutal, roman coliseumesque.. I will stick to the boxing ring.. that can be brutal enough..

Here's a battle from days gone by... Chacon vs Limon

Era...1980 M.Lucas VERSUS S.Lucas.....bare knuckle fight in V.& E.Lucas back yard. Fight was called in round 2 due to the younger ...S.Lucas use of a foreign object.......A 1x4 if memory serves me correct. Due to a pink button down oxford. S.Lucas wore said oxford & it enraged the elder M.Lucas. Neither S.Lucas nor M.Lucas would be caught dead these days wearing a pink shirt.....names were changed to protect the unknown. Douglas VS Tyson when Douglas knocked Tyson out. Watched it with my late mom, she was a happy woman that Tyson got ko'd.

i would not consider this an epic fight but it always sticks with me cause i was a kid watching it with my dad.
ray boom boom mancini vs doo ku kim from korea.
mancini killed him....literally. kim died

always stuck with me

again not epic but early mike tyson when he was like 19-20 turning dudes lights out like it was nothing.
tyson was a monster man....loved watching him fight
