Just thinking out loud here but if there is/was a land beyond the pole or whatever then perhaps it is not actually on this planet.

Maybe what they are keeping secret is some sort of "anomaly/ gate/ portal" to another place - be that different planet/dimension or whatever.

This would explain a lot of the stories and the amazing sights they describe as anything not of this planet is likely to be VERY different.

Maybe we are also visited from the 'other side' and who's to say there aren't others in equally inaccessible places. After all if I had been using this door to elsewhere and saw the way this planet's inhabitants behaved, especially the gov'ts/leaders then I would build others in extremely remote/ inaccessible places as a back up for when the humans discovered it. (That sacred mountain in the Himalayas / deep in the jungle / bottom of the Ocean..)

Lake Vostok is the largest subglacial lake in the Antactica, situated about 4000 meters below the ice surface. It is a fresh water lake and when it´s presence was confirmed in 1993 since a theory about it´s existence was formed in 1955-1956. After many years of planning and attempts to drill through the ice, the Russian drilling project succeeded in 2012 and again at least in 2015 when a sample of fresh water was retrieved. There are theories that the water is between 14 and 20 million years old (!?) and that the project would reveal alien life forms.

So far, findings of unique bacteria has been found, app. 3400 different types of organisms has been documented, half of these are totally new to science. Many of these are in turn believed to survive climates on for example Jupiter´s moon Europa. Not that lot of publications has come out of this highly interesting exploration which of course has led to speculations of what Russia is hiding...

IceCube Neutrino Observatory is also fascinating, with its almost 6000 optic sensors, detecting neutrino. The best description can be found on their homepage (source):

IceCube searches for neutrinos from the most violent astrophysical sources: events like exploding stars, gamma-ray bursts, and cataclysmic phenomena involving black holes and neutron stars. The observatory will also do research about cosmic events like gamma ray outbursts.

In Antarctica, you also have the South pole observatory which is specialized on research about among other things cosmic background radiation, the mystery of dark matter and incoming light in rhe redshift region.The observatory is able to detect very fine nuances since it is placed on high altitude and the air is thin and very dry. There has been speculations about detecting Nibiru. Read more at the official site.

As for the dramatic rescue of an American scientist during the harsh winter in Antarctica in August 2012, there have been quite a lot of cryptic articles, not saying that much. There was reported that a American had been taken ill or had been injured, thus demanding the very dangerous flight and rescue at the polar station of McMurdo. It was believed that the patient needed "corrective surgery" but that the expedition was very secretaive about what ahd happened.

One of the longest articles I have found is this article from Radio Australia.

The McMurdo polar station was at the time just starting up the project of drilling to the surface of year another subglacial lake, Lake Whillans, and the project reached its goal in January 2013. Read more here.

Now, of course, these projects and events can seem to be isolated and not interesting but I find it quite interesting that there are so many projects going on in these very exclusive laboratories and sites. Of course, it is easy to get to Antarctica but it still demands some kind of work to get there, even if the flight from Cape Town now only takes about six hours.

Buzz Aldrin was rescued after he, what he said himself, retracted high altitude sickness with fluid in his lungs while visiting the area, but it is not mentioned where he was. He was flown to McMurdo station which is situated at the coast and from there rescued to New Zeeland.

McMurdo is also the place of the memorial bust of Admiral and freemason Byrd, the leader of the infamous Operation Highjump (1946-1947) which I believed started in Ross Sea(?).

I hope I have given you a bit more to think about - the Antarctica is filled with interesting "projects"!

It is strange that a lot of people are going down there.. Also that wikileaks released pictures of Antarctica? For what purpose? Is there something their not telling us? It's hard to believe they have been studying , ice, atmosphere and meteorites all this time. I'm leaning more in the direction now that Antarctica is Atlantis and through a crustal displacement that happened fairly quickly days to weeks it settled at the South Pole and froze. Maybe they are down there more for archaeological reasons. Whole ancient cities could be under ice. Animals frozen. This could also be why they want to shut down coal mines. Ancient tropical forest have been found underground. One of the largest is in Illinois. Imagine what kind of artifacts are down there waiting to be found.

From November 10-12, Secretary Kerry will travel to Antarctica, where he will visit McMurdo Station, the largest research station of the U.S. Antarctic Program, as well as surrounding areas on Ross Island, and the U.S. Government’s Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station. I have been around at ATS for a couple of years, as you have seen, but I rarely post. I prefer to read since I think there are so many knowledgeable people here anyway. But once in a while, when I see something is not mentioned that might be of interest, I post, just as in this case. The case of Antarctica is very intriguing.

Ah, about my name - being a big Tolkien fan I tried to register Earendel just to see that it was taken. Since I also am Scandinavian, what better than to choose the Norse name of the star - Aurvandil. Aurvandil, the Star Wanderer, the Skywalker, is a fascinating and very obscure tale, also linked to Amletus/Hamlet of Shakespeare. Norse mythology is also one of my big interests along with almost every other mythological and occult topic you can think of.

I too am Scandinavian (Heil Norge!) which is why I knew the genesis of your username. Only 25% though as my maternal grandparents literally met right off the boat in Ellis Island. She was from Norway, and he from Italy. At least on my paternal side I'm all Scotsman! So I guess I'm a true American....or a greasy viking that likes to cook while wearing a kilt...lol.

I'm also a big Tolkien fan so we already have a little in common. And I am a Shakespeare fan so knew of the mention in Hamlet.
