So hi. I am Female and I am 40something. I am a bit of an amateur astronomer compared to the people here and I am lucky enough to be living in a true dark spot near the Welsh borders of the UK. Usually I don't have much time for the internet however having decided to take a year or so off the grind - here I am filling my time and amusing myself.

Lucky me
unlucky you , maybe.

I guess I am the cliche long time lurker and have checked out the site randomly for about 10 years without bothering to comment despite finding many interesting and amusing threads. Some superb ones. Truth is I don't have very much to say or add to most topics.
But don't worry I do not ad block anymore and occasionally even click.

I started searching for ufos and military aircraft stories after a huge huge black triangle flew over my head very late and very low one night. I watched it black out the sky and fly off for quite some time. No lie. It was 1997 and I was setting up to view comet hale bop. I have no proof and have not spoken about it much to others before. I have however regularly checked the internet for sighting and here especially in the hope your most excellent air experts may reveal whatever it was I saw.
As a strong cynic I assume secret military. As a child I travelled the world with my dad and lived on various RAF bases but did not see anything like the huge huge black triangle.I have waited a long time for some kind of revelation yet things seem to be quiet on this front now sadly.

I do have some anecdotes on other things that may be of interest- II may mention some time.
I have no political allegiance. The left and right foot trample us all in a march to tyranny after all.

Thats about it I think for now....

Oh I am useless at computer stuff and posting pics and linking and unused to forums. Hopefully I can learn here and become proficient so apogies in advance for messed up pic posts or vid links etc etc.

Questions welcome.

Welcome I'm 40ish and from the uk too.

Wow,that's a hell of a sight to see the black triangle craft.During the 90s one was even seen and reported by local newspaper hovering over a conservative politicians house

I think These craft are American as there is an account of soldiers on Salisbury plain coming into contact with a landed craft matching the typical description and the pilots who were out the vehicle spoke with American accents

I'm not sure what they use these craft for as far as I'm aware they haven't been used (or seen) in combat-your very lucky to have seen one

Enjoy your time here

Yes thanks for the welcome people.

@yes Wherismypassword. ( Wimp? No. )
I do remember that incident. Soon after that another one was seen by hundreds of people high up over the M6/M5 .
That also made the paper and radio. What shocked me most was the size , they really are big and I have seen the biggest aircraft. Also they are very quiet, like hearing a lorry in the distance. It was long ago but I am a little awestruck still.
I sort of have a theory they are some kind of mobile base. Maybe like a d.u.m.b but for in the air and they are not meant for combat or short manoeuvring. Just my own idea.

That's not a bad idea and they vary in sizes by gigantic proportions so their usage must change

If the USAF are flying them in British airspace I wouldn't be surprised if our RAF pilots are lucky enough to fly these craft

It just seems strange to me that these craft have remained hidden from operations for so long and only turn up from time to time

I saw one of the small black triangles in Wiltshire in the 90s as well, day light sighting and hovering over a field while been driven in a car

Saw an aircraft with navigational lights at night at high altitude change direction and warp away in a metallic blur upwards while in Ireland

Another craft was hovering over a field at low level on a very dark evening with 4 bright coloured lights on the way back home after work.It was literally 50 meters away right in front of me with my road taking me directly straight in front of it.
An old man was standing outside his house in the small village staring in that direction and when the car got to the junction in the road I wound down window and could not hear anything and stopped just up road and looked back and nothing there

Last strange sighting was coming back from gig with a singer in car about 1 in the morning and a helicopter was flying at low hedge levels to the left of us chasing what looked like a glowing orb:-/ that was insane low levelling flying and I'm glad it wasn't directly over us

Interesting . You have been lucky. I have read a bit about the Wiltshire orbs and the crop circles connection of course. Was it something like that ? .I visit that area and Stonehenge and Avesbury for weekends now and again. You hear a lot of stories from the local people. They like to encourage the tourists and send you out walking at night after plying you with beer.

I am in a low flying area here and get a fair bit of low fly exercising air craft fly overs. Additionally many helicopters from the who dares wins at waking you up at night by low flying over your house . They are noisy neighbours for sure.

As to the black triangles - I think they must have special hangers for them dotted about and now mainly fly them at night for mechanical checks and such. Maybe the sightings in the 90s era were daylight test flights that they soon realised made them too visible. Who knows. Certaintly they would be very very hard to spot in the dark and in rural area's, like mine , and few witnesses. Likely to remain a mystery. If you do see one in the daylight remember all the doom porn youv heard lately and expect a mega tsunami or similar earth ruining event imminently .

Welcome to ATS!

Seems that black triangles are what all the cool kids are into these days! You will find plenty of electronic ink being spilt here on the topic. I like your sighting already.

Glad that you decided to join! Because, don't ya' know, lurking is bad for your back.
We can also use some astronomer types as well.

Yeah Wiltshire has had a few crop circles ranging from obvious man made ones to large intricate designs.

I think many are man made and potentially tourist attractions for the area but who knows

Salisbury plain is where the army does a lot of its big training so it's not surprising that over the years many UFO sightings have occurred when RAF and potentially USAF for some exercises have planes in the sky

Warminster had mass sightings years ago and they used to have a big military base there as well

I think the only Roswell incident we have had is the alledged crashed UFO in wales where the army are said to have taken the bodies to Porton Down

Yes I have been lucky to have seen some exotic craft over the years

I forgot one other sighting 5 years ago at groom lake (Area 51) when myself and a mate saw a craft at night with no navigation lights slowly head in the direction of Vegas. We stopped and got off our bikes and had a smoke watching this object

I can see why they test aircraft out at that location, there are not too many people around to witness anything!
