Once upon a time there were three pages a day on the new topics page. There used to be a lot more people posting on here than there is now.
Now your topic can be on the NEW page for over a day. It used to be on page two within a few hours. New topics were created in a constant stream.
I've been a member under different names since 2007.

Why do some people have to open their snotty mouth/s?

The site is fine as it is... now that all the rubbish has been banned from here anyway.

I've been contributing member for a long time and I agree.

I think the value for value business model has been very successful and although many people haven't come forward I'm more than willing to bet that a lot of silent readers and former members would be willing to participate.

Especially if ATS made a statement claiming to end all corporate sponsorship and allow the members to be what keeps the site alive.

It's a very attractive business model for the critical thinking audience. It adds a bit of authenticity for what the site represents as well.

Now that I think of it.... this would essentially be like a rebranding but with the same logo and design as before but with a new culture change/ shift.

The donations can remain anonymous so that the moderators and members who contribute are unaware of each other in order to prevent any conflict of interests in moderation and moderation choices.

See... what people tend to forget is that a lot of the rubbish is what attracted most of the contributors in the first place and then over time many of those contributors evolved from the rubbish into more serious topics and areas of research.

For instance...

You may come here for 911 or aliens but evolve into archeology and geography.

Or you may come here for Flat Earth (not really) or a NASA conspiracy and volve into an area of research that consist of more philosophy and actual science in an effort to debunk/ further understand specific topics.

Sorry I won't pay to be abused. I'm a liberal, democrat who fully supported Hillary for president and I've spent the most horrific year on this site because of my views. People said terrible things because of my political view.
The standards are too low to even consider payment for membership.
The management did nothing to stem the abuse as a matter of fact in some cases contributed to it though I never reply to posts by them unless it's benign.
So no. I would just leave. I come on less and less anyway since the election.
I just can't tolerate the ignorance we're supposed to deny. And I don't see much value here.

I've certainly preferred this site without all the 'Trans' & 'gay' Topics which used to take up half the board! I and any others here don't want the board cluttered with that.

I would become a financially-supporting member if they brought back the ability to block a forum from the "Recent" feed. That's worth a few bucks monthly to me.
