The Trump Campaign is filing an objection to the Jill Stein vote recount effort in Michigan.

They claim her claim of being "an aggrieved candidate" is not valid.

In fact the Trump lawyers are calling it a “lawless” electoral “farce".

They apparently filed a 36 page objection package today.

Trump objects to Stein’s Michigan presidential recount

President-elect Donald Trump’s attorneys on Thursday asked a state elections panel to reject Green Party candidate Jill Stein’s request for a statewide recount of the 4.8 million ballots in Michigan, calling it a “lawless” electoral “farce.”

Attorneys for Trump and the Michigan Republican Party argued that Stein has “commandeered” the state’s election process and should be denied a recount because she is not an aggrieved candidate since she finished fourth in the Nov. 8 election.

In a brief one-page request, Stein claimed she was “aggrieved on account of fraud or mistake” in the statewide canvass of Michigan’s presidential election. She offered no specific allegations of human error or manipulation of the electoral process.

Good one OP! I'm curious of what will happen. I do have to admit this is a very interesting election cycle!

If it is a "Farce" what are they so worried about?

I agree with this statement in the legal base, I am sure that Trump have enough time to get the best of the best when it comes to constitutional lawyers and they have found a good base to oppose to the recount.

It should be Hillary herself asking for a recount and not her proxy Stein.

Hillary is a coward and rather hide behind a proxy than coming forward and ask for a recount herself.

I've read threads at ATS about Ms. Stein's initiative, I've looked at articles, I've listened to some of her homemade video asking for volunteers, I've seen the Green Party's distancing themselves from her which all leads me to conclude something not right is going on with this woman.

The Green Party has been involved for years in working to clean up the voting process but this time something is amiss with the underlying motivation of Ms. Stein. Something changed her. Her motivation may have been honest to start but I question it now.

That's my view.

The lawyers are wrong in a way, the recount is not the farce; this entire election cycle was a farce enjoyable to those watching from the side

What an incredible waste of money.

What a bunch of idiots who donated money for this.

All the money that's going to be wasted on this mess could have been used to actually help people.

Especially with the holidays.

I'm beginning to think Trump knows he lost, and is trying to prevent anyone from finding out the truth.

If he was so sure of his victory, why stop the audits ?

If I were Trump, I'd just leave the situation alone. Surely, just recounting shouldn't change the election results...

UNLESS....he knows something ?

So what do you suggest other people spend their own money on?

Something they don't want to?

Your comment sounds awfully socialist in nature.... it's their money and what they do with it is their decision and theirs alone to make, right?

I understand the sentiment but seriously, why is it anyone's business what others spend their money on?

People loose their minds over things like these but when it comes to the MIC using taxpayer monies to fund illegal and subsequent occupations of foreign nations... crickets.

But God forbid free Americans do what they please with their own resources.

geez.

Green Party candidate Jill Stein’s quest to recount Michigan’s 4.8 million ballots in an unprecedented autopsy of a presidential election could cost taxpayers more than $4 million.
...
The Green Party nominee’s attorneys left a $973,250 check at the state Bureau of Elections to cover her legally required fees for seeking a recount of 6,300 precincts.

Secretary of State Ruth Johnson said Wednesday the recount cost could total $5 million, leaving the state and county governments on the hook for the remaining $4 million.
...
Cost estimates for the recount have varied wildly between Johnson’s estimate of up to $3 million to Michigan GOP attorney Eric Doster’s estimate of $12 million, the cost of a full statewide election.

In Michigan the taxpayers are picking up most of the bill, whether they want a recount or not.

Let's see....

1. Not being able to complete the recount by the deadline resulting in all the voters being disenfranchised.

2. Waste of money.

3. Waste of time. Election employees are not pleased about having to put on massive overtime during this holiday season.

I don't necessarily believe that the President Elect knows that he actually lost the election, however, I agree with AMPTAH's statement . . .

Being a Michigan resident, I also go along with some of the other posts indicating what a waste of money this recount would be.

One of my own thoughts is that if these Stein recounts do get Clinton elected and Trump un-elected, then there will be a crap storm of civil and political unrest sure to follow.

Sounds to me like you don't think at all.

In fact it sounds just like you been drinking the kool-aid.

Maybe you should do a little investigating on your own. Seek the truth you never know what you will find.

Stein is no more than a shill for Hillary Clinton.

Well, I am from the UP and I can say that there are some people that are democrats that will be doing the recount that will mistakenly add a Clinton vote or twenty into the recount. It is human nature around here for some people who are polarized. I feel that if there is a switch that happens, they need to recheck the recount too. I know people and some would do that sort of thing if they felt they could get away with it. There is more chance of a recount being corrupted than the election itself I think, especially if it is a hand recount.

Oh, this vote for trump is questionable, the box is not filled in completely, we need to throw it out. Oh look, there is a small mark next to Hillary, we need to invalidate trumps vote, that mark is evidence that the vote is bad. It will probably be lopsided towards those who are paying for the recount.

"I'm beginning to think Trump knows he lost, and is trying to prevent anyone from finding out the truth" *For some reason the quote button not working.

Anyway, I am not so sure it is so much that Trump lost, as he thinks that Hillary wants to take another chance at stealing it from him. I heard a rumor that they by some miracle found 25,000 votes in a box left somewhere at a voting station for Hillary in Pennsylvania. That sounds like a desperate try at a steal to me, if the rumor is true.

I am from Michigan, I do not want this recount, and as a taxpayer I certainly do not want to pay for it. This is ridiculous. We had to wait about 3 weeks before they would even finalize it for Trump in Michigan, and now this. Why, just because a known criminal like Hillary wants to steal it back? We in Michigan have had enough. Let it be!
