Well Assange is alive and... leaking.

Wonder what's in this batch of diplomatic cables. The sheer number will make finding anything hard.

The problem with wikileaks et all replacing real investigative journalism (sadly now defunct) is there is no... investigation... or journalism.

Guess that's the way it is in today's pump your own gas, pay-at-the-pump, no service society.

The greater question in my mind is why leak this? Putting out massive batches of sensitive/secret/top secret material for no obvious motive, or is there something in this he wants shown to the world?

WikiLeaks Releases More Than Half A Million US Diplomatic Cables

WikiLeaks released Monday more than half a million U.S. diplomatic cables from the year 1979.

“If any year could be said to be the ‘year zero’ of our modern era, 1979 is it,” WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange said in a press release.
“In the Middle East, the Iranian revolution, the Saudi Islamic uprising and the Egypt-Israel Camp David Accords led not only to the present regional power dynamic but decisively changed the relationship between oil, militant Islam and the world,” Assange added.

The total number of documents in the WikiLeaks’ diplomatic cable collection is now 3.3 million, with the addition of these new 531,525 cables.

Interesting! Maybe he dropped of the Radar for a bit so he could better his "situation" before releasing these documents. Maybe he had to do this because there's something extremely "juicy" within these new documents.

Yep.

But both Twitter and Reddit are becoming active censors (and in some cases editing your posts)...

ATS is still the King.

You mean like how every time there's a nicely written well thought out post from someone claiming to be from the fbi who can't spell something out for us but gives all the links and research needed to uncover something big....The post mysteriously evaporates before anyone gets a chance to go over it?
That kind of thing?

Perhaps there's data showing them supporting Al Qaeda / ISIS, thus further exposing the deeper implications of the drug running Al Qaeda / the CIA are always up to.

I suspect something dirty will be found in there. I confess that I'm a bit confused as to why he's not pointing out the highlights though.

1979 was the year Khomeini ascended to power.
The Iranian hostage crisis began in 1979 also.

of concern to me is the sheer numbers of documents that are released. Huge numbers of emails were released just before the election when there was no hope of anyone going thru them all and finding anything significant, now this.

Might this huge release actually be deigned to hide something rather than expose something ?

Dangerous way of thinking my friend. We would all do well to maintain mental agility and not hang our hats on one source.

Then again, you might know something I don't so please feel free to fill a gap in my knowledge if you feel there is one.

thanks
