The Huff Post has some very idealistic ideas on why the electoral college should give HRC the election.

We are a Representative Republic that has an electoral college.

8. Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by nearly two million votes.

True

7. The electoral college system created by the Framers did not prohibit electors from voting their own conscience.

Non issue

6. The Trump University settlement shines a new spotlight on Trump’s unethical business practices.

Non issue

5. Trump has demonstrated a complete lack of trustworthiness by immediately abandoning campaign promises.

Non issue

4. Trump has appointed to top White House jobs people with disturbing records of bigotry.

Non issue

3. Trump has failed to disavow racism, bigotry, threats and violence by his supporters.

I haven't a clue on what to do about this, if true.

2. Russian covert action influenced the election.

Non issue

1. Trump has made clear he will use the presidency to enrich himself, risking the corruption of our democracy.

Do they not understand that the 'push back' on an election reversal would finish the U.S. as a country? At best a dissolving of the Union. At worst?.....

What do you think is happening right now? For the second time in 16 years, the election was stolen by the candidate with less popular votes. The notion of one person, one vote has been completely destroyed. The way I see it, there would be 2.1-million less pissed off voters if the electoral college selected Clinton.

They don't care. If Hillary had won, they would have had their own corrupt self-enriching puppet. Time for plan B, tear the country apart through attrition and/or civil war.

Cheers - Dave

Trump has demonstrated a complete lack of trustworthiness by immediately abandoning campaign promises.

The campaign promises that the GuffPo spent a year calling racist?

You'd think that'd be a plus.

Trump has failed to disavow racism, bigotry, threats and violence by his supporters.

That's a blatant lie.

Do you under stand why the electoral college is there?

Well the electoral college should definitely put Hillary in office because she's never shown that she'll use a position of power to enrich herself, she's shown she's incredibly trustworthy and honest, her ethics are above reproach, and she definitely didn't have anything to do with election rigging in any way, and something like half a percentage point more of the total US population voted for her rather than Trump.

Clearly the better choice

Right. Let's see leave it like it is and what little riots there are, are dying down already. Or do an about face and risk complete chaos.

I think the answer is pretty obvious.

I don't live in New York or California, nor Florida.

I'd really rather not have the clowns in those states picking our president every election, thanks.

I would read the article, but I don't want to give the talentless hacks at the Huffington post any more clicks.

I mean 5 of the reasons quoted in the OP are outright lies at best, or willfully spreading political propaganda at the worst.

Maybe there should be a new classification of media, so people don't confuse institutions that exist solely to distribute political propaganda with ones that will actually truthfully report on events.

Good luck instituting such a rule though, since it's so open to interpretation and individual opinion.

On the contrary, their votes counted just as much as everyone elses, and as a result those states went blue.

The majority of states went red and thus, in theory at least, Trump wins.

You win the majority of the popular vote in the majority of the states to win, not the popular vote nationwide. The nationwide popular vote is irrelevant.

And that's why the electoral college exists in the first place, so that the people of the 47 states other than Texas, New York and California can actually get represented in the Presidential election.

Interesting read.

uselectionatlas.org...

Especially this part:

"A third idea was to have the president elected by a direct popular vote. Direct election was rejected not because the Framers of the Constitution doubted public intelligence but rather because they feared that without sufficient information about candidates from outside their State, people would naturally vote for a "favorite son" from their own State or region. At worst, no president would emerge with a popular majority sufficient to govern the whole country. At best, the choice of president would always be decided by the largest, most populous States with little regard for the smaller ones."

Read that last sentence and for those of you so worried about the popular vote, think of California when reading that sentence.

I live in Indiana and I don't want an overpopulated state having that much sway over who gets to ALSO govern my state.

Didnt liberals (and im assuming HP) just go on about how the electoral college is antiquated and racist and needs to be changed because its not fair? So now they want the EC as long as it does what they tell it too?

I am apathetic to the electoral college, but if we are going update voting how about some national voter ID if we are worried about integrity.
Arguing against the current election college results is a totally different and idiotic thing. Both sides know the rules, what they need to do.
Also in big states like CA, and NY there is a great chance millions of republicans do not go to the polls because why waste their time. I doubt I would go to polls in CA. Imagine your choices being democrat or socialist since legislature is top 2 for votes, not by party.

Its like complaining about getting checkmated but saying you have more pieces on the board so you should win.
